Restoring a Console -- Repop Trim?

Got a 71 console that I'm gonna fix up.

Does anyone know if they repop the chrome trim piece?

Also, how do I remove the trim? Looks like there are just some tabs that twist out...

Thanks

Yes. They just started making them a couple years ago. I haven't heard anything one way or the other about quality. Classic Parts of America as well as some others carry them. http://www.classicparts.com/1969-75-.../#.VMsgzmx0zIU

To remove yours, take the twist out of the tabs with pliers and lift the ring off.

I'd be interested in hearing about the quality if you get one.

Good luck with the restoration.

Here is an original that has been listed on CL forever. It is in LA and priced right: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...866272194.html

You can clean up your rusty original with some 0000 steel wool and wd40. Try it and see for yourself if you are considering a replacement.

Re: Restoring a Console -- Repop Trim?

Thanks guys. For 72 bucks for a repop I'm gonna do my best to clean up my original!

Now I just gotta figure out what other GM vehicles used that size ashtray???

73-? Blazers/Suburbans use the same ashtray in the rear seat arm rests.
