Fix the sun beatin on my back

What have you guys done to help this? I have dark tinted windows already but my neck and back still get hot all the time. I have used the 70's style louvers in the past, but don't know if they are really my style now. The only thing I have come up with is curtains, can anyone save me from hangin curtains in my truck??? Can you double up the tint and have it look ok? Other ideas?

Re: Fix the sun beatin on my back

Spray paint the inside of the window. Any color would work. LOL

Sorry Thomas, just kidding. Other than more tint, there's not much you can do, aside form cdowns' advise above.

Re: Fix the sun beatin on my back

Since I have a sliding window the panes are small so I am going to try and tint the outer windows on top of the existing tint and see. Otherwise out comes the curtain rods and lace trim! !!

Re: Fix the sun beatin on my back

Get some fabric or cardboard and glue magnets or Velcro to it and the cab/window and put it up when the sun is out and put it behind the seat when there is no sun.

Ya I had 5 % on my old 70 and I live in Phoenix Arizona and I never felt the sun after lol. I already can't wait to get it done on my new 69 on all the windows.

My 88 s-10 had 5 % all around it was so nice.

Re: Fix the sun beatin on my back

im almost positive that on pickups in all 50 states there is no limit to the rear window tint, i have help more then a couple friends with with trucks and we have double or tripple tinted the back windows to the point where with a flashlight on and flat agaist the outside of the window we could hardly see it on the inside, my personal preferance for the back window is first layer at 5% and a second layer at 2% and if u really wanna go dark u cant put a second layer of 2% ontop, another idea is if u pull out the window to tint it, buy one deacent sized roll put one layer on the window standard method then tape off the edges to some type of backboard paint the first level of tint with spray paint, then put a second coat of tint ontop of the first/painted tint layer it saves your window, and makes it imposible to see through

Re: Fix the sun beatin on my back

It's a 71, it's nothing to get it inspected. Last time I got my truck done, I pulled up and the guy didn't even get in. He honked the horn and asked me if everything worked and put a sticker on it. (I go there every year of course). So that's not an issue.

thirdstreettito: You reminded me of my friend's Corvette. He had glass T-Tops and they had these board cutouts that had suction cups that he put in place when the sun was hot... I think I am going to try and fabricate something like that. Thanks! You're the big winner!

There is a little used tire shop on the North side access road of I-30 between St. Francis and Buckner Blvd. I have gone there for a few years now. He's an honest guy, and is cool if you are cool to him. The fact that it was a civic might make a difference since that is an emmisions car and he might look at those with more scrutiny. On a 71 it is a safety only inspection so he knows it is basically lights and horn...
