Re: help ?

Did you use the timing chain cover from the 305 and put it on the 350?
TDC on 305 is 12 O'clock and TDC on the 350 is about 2 O'clock position.

Dist is the same. Did you also use the harmonic balancer from the 350 and not the 305?

Most likely your problem. I had the same issue when I swapped my 305 for a 350.... When I ordered a balancer for the same model year as my truck but with a 350, it produced a balancer with the mark in the same spot as the 305's. The solution was to mount the new balancer on the old motor along with the bolt on timing tab I was planning on using on the 350 which sits at approx 2 o'clock. I then lined up the notch on the balancer with the factory 0 setting on the old 305 which was on the timing cover and made a new mark on the new balancer that lined up with the 0 setting on the new bolt on timing tab. Then I just removed the balancer and timing tab from the 305 and installed it on the 350. Good to go...

Re: help ?

Where is your timing tab? 12 o'clock or 2 o'clock? Bolted on with timing cover bolts or attached to the timing chain cover and non-removable?

Re: help ?

Also make sure you have your plug wires in the right position on the distributor. If your one space off it can make things difficult
