Windshield Washers keep freezing up
Hey guys
I have a 86 chevy K10 and it has the WW sprayers on the wiper arms, and they keep freezing when it gets really cold, regardless of how much methenal hydrate I put in the fluid I was wondering if I could put the 81-84 washer sprayer on that mount in the cowl and spray up on the windshield from there. I haven't had the cowl piece off, and I was wondering if the proper mounting point are there for these sparyers, and I can route rubber lines to them in the cowl. This way they won't be afftected by windchill, and freeze on me.... There is a small piece of brass tubing that come up at the arm base, for the rubber lines to go the the wiper arms but there to close to the wiper arms for the other lines to bolt to any information is benificial Thanks Cameron

Re: Windshield Washers keep freezing up
YES the cabs are the same, if you want to change it CAN be done. I have an 84 and an 86 truck in my shop, the only difference is the design of the washer hose connections.

Re: Windshield Washers keep freezing up
I accually like the look better, less things on the wiper arms, and they don't freeze up on me.
Also I have the old school wiper arms with the tab on the back, whats the secret to pulling them off?, they are original and never removed since new Thanks Cameron

Re: Windshield Washers keep freezing up
Use a hook tool on the opposite side of the mounting point from the arm itself pull back on the retaining clip and wiggle the arm off at the same time

Orange RainX washer fluid is pretty nice to use. I have been pretty pleased with it and its only 3-4.00 a gallon.

Re: Windshield Washers keep freezing up
Duro: You might run into an issue with the cowl. The cowls are different for "fluidack" arms as opposed to "nonfluidack" arms, I'm not sure though. To remove arms, lift arm away from the W\S, move tab away from arm, with tab out release arm (it will set on the tab) then wiggle arm off. New arms may or may not have the tab, mine don't and they are a PITA to get on and off. jim

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |

Re: Windshield Washers keep freezing up
There is a simple little tool that is used to remove the wiper blades. Just about every parts store carries them, where I live, but it can also be made out of a piece of strap metal.
