Bed removal?
After a search looks as though bed removal is simple with enough manpower.My plan is to be able to access underside of bed and frame to treat and paint.
1 Is the front of the bed strong enough to tip it on end? 2 For the wheelwells and underside of bed is Rhinolining a good option? 3 If budget allows I will replace tank with a underbed style,is there anything that should be looked at or maintained with bed off other than the obvious?Thanks. |

bed is easy for one person with an engine lift to take off
i have stoodup bed on the front for storage with no damage but find for ppaintin it is better flipped completely over upside down

well i seen a lot of guy put the fuel tank in the back where the spare tire sat means No spare tire I'm not one to reach into the bed with the door in the metal or wood floor Gas dose not work well with eather one I seen a lot of guys go to body shops and french in the side filler door and just find on in a S10 or a pull size truck get the hose as well with the bleeder as well makes filling your truck really easy and it looks good on the side of the bed

I have always wondered about the engine lift lifting the bed up. Where did you lift from?

I do mine with an engine hoist, extended all the way out. Remove bumper. put 2 2x4s together and cut to fit between bedrails just below lip.Drill holes through ends, about 4 inches in from end. Put a heavy eye bolt through with big washers on nut end. Take a chain long enough to attach to eyebolts and give about 2 foot drop from hoist hook. Find the balance point in the bed by trying to slowly pick up the bed. Make sure to unbolt first. LOL. Pick up high enough to drive truck out from under.
