Re: Build start
Looks like you have great truck to start this out. I hope to have mine looking about that good when I'm done.

Re: Build start
A arm bushings all shot .Had to wait on them .Power disc will be so sweet.Found a ford 9 inch 31 spline open rear but 65 wide so only 1 one half inch offset needed on the wheels per side .

Figured I stop by and say hi. I can see your going to be describing things using words way above my pay grade. I might have to ask you to translate every once in a while but I look forward to watching your work. Semper Fi

[QUOTE=0311Chevy8152;7173875]Wish I lived closer, maybe out of both of us we could compensate for each others disabilities. I can only get a little while out of my new hip right now depending on how heavy of objects I carry and twisting to get into tight spots. Hope you are doing well with the hip .

Re: Build start
Well we made the Pigeon Forge show! The front brakes locked up had to adjust the valves the shifter came off in my hand and the clutch is weak when it gets hot and you can barely get it in gear .But we made it to Tennessee then Naples Florida and back to Md averaged 12 mpg .

Re: Build start
Don't let missed time goals discourage you------believe me I know about that!
Im currently two years past my initial goal--and no where near finished yet. Try to do some little thing every day (or as often as possible)--be content with small steps. Good luck--and don't give up!!

Re: Build start
I'm close, but yet so far. Maybe we could line up a day for a few of us to come and boost progress on it. I always thought getting such "events" together would be the coolest". And not just because someone has an injury or other limitation. It's fun to do something productive, then kick back and BS.
ps: Haven't forgotten that grille. Going south this weekend, maybe next.

Re: Build start
Looking at the pics, I suggest you try holding the phone longways horizontally.

Re: Build start
If anyone can tell me how to turn the pictures upright i would greatly appreciate it .I have held the phone every way possible .This is the only site that they do this on for some reason anyway you can see whats going on .The hydro boost worked out awesome was going to buy brackets but once i saw GMC has 4 bolts right at the mounting area it was a no brain er .The unit it self was from a 87 diesel C30 and had 4 holes and i cut the two top ones off drilled two new ones .Cut the push rod end off ,got one from a 71 booster that unscrews in the middle .Then threaded the end and viola !Its like GMC planned it in 1968!Clutch z bar mount on the frame was moved back 2 inches and raised 1 1/2 on that end .Took the rod and cut 5 inches out of it 2 from the clutch end and 3 from the pedal end so it preserved the bend .Hope this info helps someone down the road .Its been years since i broke my back and haven't done any fabrication .And i couldn't with out a helper but it feels great even if it takes me ten times longer than before .I know im very Blessed and thank the Good Lord every morning .Oh and the clutch is so easy it feels like a hydraulic unit!

Re: Build start
I heard if you rub the dogs nose in it he won't do that again! ...cool truck man, thanks for posting P.s. I have an iPhone 4(not 4s) but the only way for me to post upright pics is to take the pic holding the phone sideways/horizontal. I can't figure out anyway to flip em if i took it holding the phone vertical. This link goes into detail on the pics- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=607332 Last edited by Custom/Ten; 07-30-2015 at 11:08 AM. |
