Who's new with an '82? This guy!!

Hello from the Dirty South (SC to be exact)!

I just got my hands on a 1982 GMC C1500/Sierra about 2 months ago. The guy I bought it from had the original engine and tranny taken out and dropped in a rebuilt 305 and new tranny. He also dropped a little bit into the paint and a cowl hood!

All of the original parts came with it but most of the inside and cosmetic stuff on the outside was starting to look rough and he couldn't bring himself to put it back on.

I look forward to a wealth of knowledge from here to help me get her back in pristine shape! The red looks really washed out in the pics and it seems that something is blooming around here so its got a yellow glaze on it!

All in all I think a pretty decent deal for $3500

its actually not there at all! thats one of the MANY questions i have about parts/pieces! i can't seem to find the clips/grommets/bolts or whatever to mount the cowl. and i can't seem to find anyone around town that knows either. so any help so i can get the blasted thing on would be great

for the time being im gonna leave it. i kinda like the stance of it. although it looks off due to the slant of the driveway. mainly looking at the wiper cowl, side molding/wheel trim and spray in bed liner to complete the outside. inside is a different story though. needs some work in that department

Looks good ! nice duration on that cam in that 305>sounds like music to our ears around here!Ithink 3500.0 is a very reasonable price for this > taken care of , it will only go up in price& thats a sweeet thing.

Re: Who's new with an '82? This guy!!

$3500??? WOW! Thats a very nice truck! Sounds good too. I'd like to have my 305 sound like that. It's almost time for a rebuild on mine so there is hope for my 305!
Welcome aboard!

what would be the purpose of wet sand with 1000 grit?
just a question. wondering what the end result would be. truck looks clean to me.

thanks for all the comments guys!

the head liner is actually in good shape. im going to a yard tomorrow and grabbing the 4 plastic pieces ($20) to put up there. also picking up a new gauge cluster for $50 as my speedo doesn't work and oil needle is broke.

Re: Who's new with an '82? This guy!!

I think he got the process reversed. Sand with 1000 grit THEN buff. But the truck doesn't need it, either way.
