Went to the junkyard today....

I went to the junkyard,no scores like when I brought the shortbed 4x4 home cheap but did find some usable body panels and a a/c cab.I didnt bring anything big home yet as Im heading down south tomorrow to look in some junkyards.Did find a longhorn though, dont think I will get it though.
Here are some pics I took.Notice the smashed 67 c30 dually. One of the trucks is a custom camper c20.Found a few 67-68s,most were 69-72s though.
Seen a 71-72 4x4 but wasnt for sale,if I bug them enough it might be though

Dang I love junk yards. I wish I had some property so I could start collecting enough stuff to have my own junkyard except I'm too stingy and would keep everything I had.

I'm glad it ain't just me. Every one of those trucks has a story...and all 'em started out brand new off the assembly line. Gets me, sometimes.

Can't save 'em all

Which one is that. I've been to a few down there. I take it you didn't find any gears yet. I'm not giving up yet.

I can't believe all of the unbroken glass in those pics ... around here it seems that all the glass being knocked out is a prerequisite before they will let the truck into the yard.

I like the flatbeds...but what are those white buckets in the bed of that one truck. If they are '69-'72 you better pick them up!

Are you kidding? That's what the junkyard owner and his cronies do when they're bored and wandering around. At the local yard I frequent, I don't think there is ONE piece of intact glass. On ANY vehicle.

Re: Went to the junkyard today....

Troy,I went to the 2 in and around Linton, one has a old amtrack train in the yard.Havent found a gear yet,did you see what I posted on the pics for msgross thread?
Shane, the only broken glass is whats broken when it comes in,only 2 trucks didnt have glass, one because it was smashed and the other one had the glass in the cab.I think Im gonna go snatch the sliding rear windows when I go back.
I dont think the buckets are original but I didnt look that close

Re: Went to the junkyard today....

I am not sure. The one I made for the frame parts for him. The axles are already out of the Blue blazer. If you want the orange tub when i'm done it's yours. It will probably be on a rolling chassis.

Re: Went to the junkyard today....

I am for sure heading back tomorrow to look at the buckets, maybe get a sliding rear window or 2,some rear trim/divider,the roof lights and see if that is a blazer or burb I didnt notice at first.May bring home a door or 2 if they are good, maybe bring home a good front clip off the 67,and pluck any other good parts.

Re: Went to the junkyard today....

I dont have their ###.Its a very small buisness, lots of vehicles, little sales.Unless you could get up here to pickup anything you wont be getting it as I can just about say they will not ship anything. When I get my paypal fixed and can subscribe to sell I can get some items and ship.Let me know what you need and I will see what I can do.BTW,I think I might be bringing home the a/c truck as my a/c cab needs alot more work than this one does, just rockers and cab corners.

Re: Went to the junkyard today....

I wish the junkyards here had 67-72 trucks with that many parts still on them. They are all picked clean here.
