Does anyone speak Italian?
We are trying to help a user from Italy, get some parts hes needing. So far we have been chatting using the online translators BUT the language barrier is still there
I figured with as many members we have... someone may be able to step up and help us communicate. PM me if you can help. Thanks! |

Re: Does anyone speak Italian?
LIZ...I don't speak Italian, "Heck" I barely speak English but you might try a local college...they may have a person who speak Italian. Just a thought.
Good Luck.

Re: Does anyone speak Italian?
I'm sure we have some Spanish speaking users that might be able to assist. Both are latin based languages so it's worth a shot.

Re: Does anyone speak Italian?
This is true. I lived in Italy for a short time (sorry I've lost it all or I would have PM'd you already) and my Italian friends could understand enough Spanish to get by just fine when they went to Spain. There are differences, of course, but there are enough similarities to make it understandable.

Re: Does anyone speak Italian?
The biggest problem with this type of translating is that not many languages have technical translations.I hope you find someone to help Liz.

Also, wouldn't it be easier for the Italian to find someone over there who can translate to and from English?? That would seem to be the easier way to go. After all, it's him (her?) that needs the help, right? Make 'em work a little... |

Re: Does anyone speak Italian?
As PanelDeland mentioned, even if you can find an Italian speaking person here on this forum, the differences in terminology for the mechanisms may be a problem.
I have a friend that moved here from England many years ago. I had to basically interpret for him at the auto parts on some items. Their description of some parts is different than what we use. Over here, a lot of parts houses along the border or where there are a lot of people that speak Spanish only, keep an auto parts translation book by the counter. |
