P/S swap...
Hey fellas, i was wondering what sorts of power steering setups you all run? I love the amazing EASE of my original '69 system but it's got leaks at the pump and the gearbox i think. Anyone know of seal kits or should i swap out the box and pump for something newer?
Is the swap out for a c20 from later years the same stuff? does it affect the ease of steering or anything? thanks much, Greg

Why not just get a new pump and install in your old reservoir, get new press. and return lines. As for the gearbox, I can't remember who, but somebody sells seals for them. Maybe GearBox Grannie's.

I bought seals at autozone. I used a 77 power steering box.

Whether you get a rebuild or buy new (I would strongly consider new) get a variable ratio box and not a constant ratio. The original box is a constant and the variable will give you a much better road feel. You can buy aftermarket boxes with varying degrees of increased effort. I put an AGR rockcrawler box in my Jimmy, a constant ratio, and if I had to do it again, I would STILL get an AGR box, just the variable ratio. Two wheel drive boxes seldomly wear out like the 4x boxes, but an increased effort, variable fast ratio box will make your truck drive a TON better.
