Filling 1967 Rear Differential
I changed my rear end from six lug to five lug and got it all cleaned up. I am at a point that I would like to fill it. But neither the back cover or diff casting have a plug in it. The only opening into the cast is the vent hole. So the question is what am I missing?
Thought I would ask the question before I start drilling holes in the cover. |

Re: Filling 1967 Rear Differential
I’m surprised it doesn’t have a square pipe plug in the first pic under that vent hose about half way up.

Re: Filling 1967 Rear Differential
It could also have a pipe plug that takes a 3/8" square drive like a ratchet, maybe even a hex drive.

Re: Filling 1967 Rear Differential
Check for pipe plug at tip of RED arrow.
Use 3/8 ratchet with short extension. You need to fill until it starts weeping out, then its full.

Re: Filling 1967 Rear Differential
Found the fill plug, thanks guys. There is a pipe plug between the two casted webs under the diff vent. Glad I didn't drill first and ask this question later.
