Am I the only one left?

First off all I want to say that there are alot of very nice rigs in here and I hope nobody thinks I am saying anything negative about them. But what happens to a truck that could clear a pack of smokes without scrapping? What happens to a nice lowered street stance that kept you low but high enough to get on it at the drop of a light and still make a corner? What happend to too running enough rubber out back that you could put down enough power to see the stars with out tilting ur head up? those 3 foot rims with 1 inch of rubber wouldn't last me one day just running. Around town let alone getting on it, and I'm only running 450 horse 383. So am i the only one left????

Re: Am I the only one left?

For a long time I was pretty sure that I was the only guy left, still in his 20s that didn't like 20s. I like 15s with fat tires, carbureted engines, and air bags that are actually used for their intended purpose (hauling heavy Syuff.) That's just me.

However! I have much respect for trucks with a pro touring style setup that have fine tuned fuel injected engines, big wheels to accommodate those high performance disk brakes, and air ride suspensions that are all combined to enable them to take corners at speeds that would leave me looking at the stars with the top of my cab flat on the pavement. That's just them!

I also think it is neat to see a 4x4s big enough to run over anything in its path, a rat rod built from junk that can throw down when challenged at a red light, and even those one of a kind bone sock all original rides that remind you where it all started.

From rednecks to hot rodders, pro street to street scrapers, old farts to whipper snappers, we all share a common bond.
The love of Chevy trucks!

TO EACH HIS OWN!

Everyone has their own opinion of what looks good. Even if I don't like the final product I can respect the work that was put into it.

i think your correct, i have a hard time keeping my truck off the disabled list but theres nothing wrong with some slicks or 10" + tires more than inches off the ground...as for it being a northwest driver trend....being knee high would clash with the rain and drivers like me and insidious '86 [4] DANGER [

Re: Am I the only one left?

No shortage here in my corner of SW Oklahoma. More bone stockers than you can shake a stick at. Plenty of bagged pavement scrappers. A few donks here and there. You would have to take your shoes off to count the number of high pony trucks running around on 15" tires and wheels with that just right stance. A handful of pro streets prowling around also. Mudders so high you need a grappling hook to get into the cab. I'm just an older young guy (56), but no matter how they put their rides together, I can respect their visions that in one way or another help keep our hobby alive and well. Guess there aren't any lone wolves. There is a pack for everyone. I chose to join what alot said was dead....long live Pro Street.

I don't like the stupid 37" rims either. Any car just looks wrong like that.

Re: Am I the only one left?

To each is own... If everyone was on the same page what a boring automotive world it would be. The individuals involved in the custom automotive world are a different breed, whatever they're driving. To us, this isn't a just a vehicle... it's an expression of our style and imagination. Not all styles are for me, but I can definitely appreciate the the time, work and passion that is poured into anyone's ride. If I wanted to drive something common; similar to what many others drove, I just go buy me a factory stocker and be happy... But that's not me.

I got one of the best compliments on my truck the other day... An older fellow friend of mine, who had never seen my truck before ('79 GMC), came up up to me and asked if that was my truck in the parking lot.... after answering "yes", He said "I knew it... it's got you written all over it!"

Re: Am I the only one left?

I am still here...runnin 15's on all my squares. One is lowered, one is not...I love them both.

I enjoy pretty much all trucks, regardless of rim size, suspension mods, etc...wit the only exception being the ones that run a lift to run the goofy looking wheel/tire combos.

As long as the wheels don't look stupid and the lift isn't bigger than a regular monster truck and every part isnt chromed I'd like it

Re: Am I the only one left?

I am for it all!! To me it is execution that matters. I like a resto. I like a clean build. I like a truck layin on the pinches. I LIKE THE FINISHED PRODUCT! I'm not much on 4x's but they have been known to raise the corners of my mouth. I like bigs and littles and I like bigs. Again, I like execution. I love the whole hot rodding experience. Chevy trucks just seem to pull at my heart strings more than most. I do not turn my nose up at a certain brand or style but you better have your FN ducks in a row if you wanna get my attention. A stock height, shiny truck will always make me turn my head.

Re: Am I the only one left?

to me,it's all about proportion......lifted,bagged,20 plus wheels whatever.if it draws your eye to one aspect, say wheel size for example it's not in proportion...but hey, that's just me.
