Hey yall im new here. And i have a few questions

Hello there fellow truck owners, im new to this site so id like to introduce my self. My names Alex.

I know what this sites about, and its all about chevy pick up trucks. Right place to be when you have one right? Well ill explain what i have, and im not bragging cause it needs serious TLC. The submodel is a 78 scottsdale, 2wd C10. The front clip however is for the silverado C10, no idea what year the clip is but looks pretty sharp. The bed is an old stepside, original cab and bed. The frame came off a 75 C10 short bed truck, the first frame was related to a car accident. The interior is all there, right down to the ceiling pristine. The gauges work, original 350 chevy and it runs pretty good. TH350 The rear brake line went out where the splitter connects, so we had to block em off for temparory till i get that fixed. I have 12 bolt full floater rear end, and the back plate looks like a big GM 14 bolt. Idk what gears are in the 12 bolt, was thinking bout putting a semi floater 92 G20 Van 10 bolt rear in with 3.42s, but before that i gotta figure out what i have now and decide if these ring and pinions would help save gas and make it move.

Any ideas on what this rear end has in it.? It has to be a 75, it cant be original.

Re: Hey yall im new here. And i have a few questions

well i guess it aint a scottsdale, its a c10 silverado. Thought the end year for this submodel with a stepside was a 77, but its a 78. bed floor is all wood. But the woods rotted out of it. Can you help me with this? Im trying to figure out what i have. Im also planing on lowering this and customizing it a lil any opinions on the drop spindles, and lowering of the rear would be helpful. Plan on doing some other things like another 1 and 1/2 on the fender flares since the insides of the fenders are rotted and holy too, plus thatd give me some room to place some 15X10 rims with P305/65R15s.

Re: Hey yall im new here. And i have a few questions

heres some photos of my baby, she aint much but i plan on doing her some good

and the hoods a lil bent out of shape. When i got it, it wasnt bolted on so we laid it down and i ran it over testing the brakes. It then got a new master cylinder.
But im still being positive, since the old hood wont shut and is pretty much gone gonna reuse it for my rear fenders

The contrast between how nice the cab is and how bad the cab is is incredible. Welcome to the site! What are your plans for it?

Also I would recommend not driving it until you get the rear brakes working again. That is dangerous not only to you but to other drivers as well.

ive gotta set of thrush muffs sittin on her, i cut this lip out of the outlet, but left the lip on the inlet so itd keep back pressure out at low engine speeds, but also reduce the flow blockage in the muffs. soon ill have headers outta 78 chevy nova. Guy wants my manifolds, and i know someone with a 72 taking his ramhorn manis off and replacing em with headers.... I told him if he does get rid of those to let me buy em

wow!! 4.11s are a bit granny, but if i gotta ill swap that old ten bolt with 3.42s. That odda be enough to move the truck and save some gas... Sheesh. Needa find me a 200R4 or a T56, thatd be fun to do.
And thank you, i really love the look of a stepside also. Hard to beat for $300

Charlie, think chevelle headers for BBC would work perfectly, i see some on craigs, or in the summit book, not the same price as sbc headers, but way worth it.

Re: Hey yall im new here. And i have a few questions

Check google for this part number on BBC headers. PTE-H8012. These are patriots long tube, $197 and there huggers. For chevelle, camaro, and Nova. Should fit a truck with no problems

Re: Hey yall im new here. And i have a few questions

the problem with headers like those is they have a tendency to leak, I couldn't feel comfortable getting headers for anything less than $500 :\

Re: Hey yall im new here. And i have a few questions

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you have some good plans, but I would really discourage you from patching holes in your fenders with fiberglass. Much better off welding in new metal or replacing the fenders. You have a higher risk of paint bubbling using fiberglass. On your 8s and 10s, you will need 4" bs in front and 5" bs in rear for the wheels to tuck. Good luck with your truck.
