Looking for Photos of Stock Engines Blazers
I bought my '72 Blazer with a 350ci crate motor already installed. It has a black block, heads, intake, and valve covers. I suppose the original color was orange, not black. How much of it was orange? Does anyone have any photos of an original motor with the correct colors in a '72 Blazer? Please post.
The engine needs some TLC. Runs STRONG, but looks a little dirty. Oh yeah, what's the deal with the white numbers "767" on the firewall?

Re: Looking for Photos of Stock Engines Blazers
This probably won't help much, but it's the only one that I have handy of my engine.

Re: Looking for Photos of Stock Engines Blazers
There are pics of my engine in the link in my signature.
The valve covers, manifold, heads, block and waterpump were all orange. The brackets for the AC, PS and alt were black, as well as the pullies.

Re: Looking for Photos of Stock Engines Blazers
Wow! Those are some great photos. Thanks for the pictures guys. Post more if you have any more. How about some underneath shots.
Great work Old Skool K/5. That seals the deal for me. The picture you posted goes to show you that you don't need chrome and bling to have an awesome looking engine. The pictures are a great help since I'm working on restoring my Blazer to original condition, with the exception of the lift kit, tires, and wheels. Two questions: 1 Does anyone know what "767" on the passenger side of the firewall means? 2. I have four screws going through my driver side fender splash shield. What would have been mounted there.

Good evening GM
I guess i shoulda cleaned her up a bit before taking the pics Everything is painted orange, from the intake to the pan, again I'm not positive if the engine was ever out, but by the way things look I doubt it : ) I 've gotta do valve cover gaskets and a brake job this week Last edited by lookingtobuy; 07-02-2007 at 07:57 PM. |

Re: Looking for Photos of Stock Engines Blazers
I'm sure there has been enuff info for you, but I thought maybe I'd show this too since it is where I'm at.
This one is out of my Jimmy. Never been messed with except Mom had intake and valve cover gaskets put in it in the mid 90's. Obviously I haven't molested it yet either since its main color is grease/grime. Later---DAC

Re: Looking for Photos of Stock Engines Blazers
Here is a pic of my Dad's 72 Blazer. Basically untouched other than painting the valve covers and installing new gaskets. Has dealer installed air. Here is mine, mostly stock other than intake and air cleaner. Just cleaned up and new gaskets. I still need to clean up the rest of the engine bay, but will probably do that when the body comes off the frame. Just driving it for now. Will be going to my TPI setup when it gets rebuilt.
