Drum to Disc Conversion.

What parts do I need to convert a 67 Chev with drum brakes to either 71/72 discs OR 73+ discs and spindles.

The easiest way is to swap the entire front crossmember out of the donor vehicle. Get the booster, master cylinder and prop valve off of a 71-72.

I was just told the lower balljoint and outer tie-rod end are the only things that need to be changed other than the MC/Prop valve. Is this true??

I don't think the outer tierod end from a 71-72 will fit the sleeve on a 67-68 (different thread), you might need the whole center link from a 71 up.

I'm not sure, but other than swapping the spindles, rotors, and associated brake parts I think that's correct...something about the tie rod connection with steering box being different. I thought the lower ball joints were the same???....I'm sure others will jump in too... I swapped my whole set-up. I paid, I think, $125 for complete disk set-up off of a 72 with the power MS and P-valve. I've read several posts where people had trouble getting rid of a disk set-up. Post a WTB on parts board and see what you can get.

Lower ball joints changed when they went to discs in 71. The same lower fits the newer 73-87 style trucks too.

there are adapter sleeves out there to make the tie rod conversion if you dont change your drag link

I bought the entire conversion kit! cost me about 900.00 total but it bolted right in!! New spindles,rotors calipers ,pads vac. drum,prop valve the works! Took very little time and although its a good sum of money we are talking brakes here,hard to stop without them!!!
