What Would You Do?
My 12 bolt 3.73 rear end out of a 1970 pinion bearing needs replacement. The gears are all in great shape with no visible wear. Would you guys replace everything or just the needed bearing?
I know the easy answer is to find another rear end but then I would not know what I was getting.

Re: What Would You Do?
I would check bearings for pitting and heat discoloration (scalding) and replace the seals if they are factory. Other than that why replace what aint broke

With everybody else, If your gears are in good shape, Use what you have if your happy with the ratio...George

Re: What Would You Do?
I was thinking the same thing guys. Thanks for the reinforcement. The only thing holding me back is a slight desire to run 3.42 gears instead of 3.73, but hey I can live with it. Probably gonna make a trip to visit my uncle as he has been a GM mechanic since the last year of these beauties. That way I can have it done right but also learn to do it myself.
