Another question for y'all. The mufflers that came on the '67 are four cherry bombs, two per side. The former owner/rebuilder said one was too loud hence the two per side. Pipes come out just in front of the rear tires.

This set up is too high pitched and too loud. I am planning on Flowmasters. The 50 series sounds good on the flowmaster web site. Lower tone than the "original" Flowmaster 40 series, not as quiet as the Flowmaster 70 series. Loud and throaty enough that it sounds cool - not so sharp and loud that it frightens small children, causes dogs to bark and women to faint.

Anyone out there have any experience with the different Flowmaster mufflers? Or any other suggested setups?

There's a pair of 40 series on this one that I saw at a car show over the weekend. Could barely tell they were on there when it was idling, but when he revved it up, it had a nice bark to it. BTW, it's got a ZZ4 in it.

I can't remember what it said on the paper in the window. All I can tell you is that I saw it at NHIS this past Sunday, should have paid more attention as to who owned it.

Check out my site...I have sound clips of 40's with 3" on a 71 with a ZZ502, Dynomax Turbos with 2-1/2" on my Suburban with the 496 and Dynomax race muffs on my Chevelle.

Personally, if you aren't after the fainting women...50 or 70 series flows aer nice and it might be worth listening to Magnflows with a crossover pipe.

I have 50 series on the 350 on my 96...love them Nice rumble when you mneed it, but it doesn't drive you nuts on long interstate drives. I'm probably going to use same thing on the 70 when ever it gets back on the road and even if it is a 6.

i'll be putting some Hooker AeroChambers on mine on Thursday, heard good things about their sound, and they outflow the Flowmasters. good or bad, i'll post my thoughts on em later

I put 50 series delta flows on my 71 this past saturday. I've got a fairly mild 350 with headers. It sounds pretty good. Deep throaty sound. Personally I though it was going to be louder than it is and wish I would have went with something different.

I'll sell ya the 50's if your interested so I can put some delta flow 40's on. Dont get me wrong it sounds nice but ijust like them louder.

I am running a pair of 40-series on my '69, with 2.5-inch inlet and outlet, no H-pipe (but need it) dumping right in front of the rear tires. Sounds good, especially echoing off of the construction barricades on I-30.

I think I'm gonna take the muffler off of my '91 Celica and put on the pair of resonator tips I used to have on my '81 El Camino. No other muffler, just a Y-pipe and two resonators with their chrome tips. Couldn't sound any worse that the "Phartmaster 2000's" that I hear on the rest of the ricer's stuff.

I had a '66 Pontiac resonator on my old '60 Triumph TR-3. No other muffler. It would rattle the store windows in downtown Little Rock....you could see 'em vibrate!

Yes, anyone of the "Race" mufflers offered by Flowmaster, dynomax, etc...etc....

IMO flowmasters suck. I like the sound of dynomax ultraflows better, it's deeper, and doesn't have that flowmaster Raspy sound.

Don't know who makes them for Summit, but their welded mufflers (chambered) sound good.

Flowmaster Delta Flow 40's. I love them. They aren't tinny at all...just really deep, throaty and loud. They are pretty loud, and i turn heads everywhere with them. I would go with the 50 series Delta Flows. Regular flowmasters do have a kind of tinny sound too them, but the Delta Flows have more of a mellow, deeper sound.

I like the sound of different systems for different vehicles. I do like the Flowmasters, Dynomax Turbo's and the Magnaflows are okay too...it depends on what vehicle and the purpose it serves.

In fact one of the best sounding systems I had was on my first truck...a 73 Jeep J4000 4X4....lifted 4" with 33X12.50X15's, Dana 44 front/Dana 60 5 lug rear/360 V-8--headers and 12" blown out glasspacks with turndowns.

I've got the Summit Welded mufflers. From what i understood they make them theirselves. They sound AWESOME at idle. but when you get into it it doesnt really have any bark to it. So to sum it up, (no pun intended) They sound good at idle but they do nothing for me any other time. They say they add up to 21 horsepower tho...i think i squeezed out 1 or 2...eh. they're only 15 bucks a piece plus shipping, so it's pretty good

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
