I'm baaaack!

I recently got bitten by the square body bug again after selling my 78 stepper in March of 2009. I closed the deal yesterday on my new truck - an 85 GMC 2WD SWB. I'll be daily driving this one too, and thankfully it's in a lot better shape than my 78 was.

On to the pics:

All pics are by the PO. I don't have it registered or anything yet, so I probably won't be driving it around much for a week or two.

Re: I'm baaaack!

Thanks! Happy to be back.

I hope it turns out to be clean running too. It's got a bit of smoke on startup, but it goes away after a few seconds.

Re: I'm baaaack!

Thanks fellas.

Gerardo, the interior is surprisingly decent now, but it needs a new dash pad big time. The cover that's on it now fits really bad. The door panel on the driver's side is fairly scuffed up too. I don't remember if I ever told you this last time, but your old geocities site was the first one I ever found once I started looking around for 73-87 sites way back when...

Cool, I didn't that info. Sure mis my website then photos at another website. I guess free internet searches will someday go away too. Like when, governments needs to money to pay back all they have borrowed.

He didn't ruin it. He improved it by dropping it, putting on a set of 20's , and enjoyed it the way HE wanted it.

Whoa, wasn't expecting this thread to come back up. Still rolling it. It's my daily driver. I did swap a sport bumper on the back, but haven't done anything else to it but drive it.

Re: I'm baaaack!

A few of the junkyard bumper swap. Hardest part was getting the old bumper bolts out of the sport bumper. Ended up having to cut them with a dremel.

the bumper:

old brackets:

stupid bracket bolts:

cleaned up:

done:
