Header questions ?

I have a 67 shortbed with a 350 stroker motor,the front has been dropped 3" and the back 4". I have a new set of Dynamax coated headers on it now with less than 200 miles on them and the motor.They are a little lower than I would like they hang just under the frame.I know that they are high enough that they won't cause me problems,but I would rather have them higher up so that I can run my exhaust above the crossmember and possiblythru the center crossmember . Dynamax makes a shorty header for a Chevelle that I think will do what I want,has anybody used this header on our trucks and run exhaust above and thru the crossmembers ? If this will do what I want I may have a brand new set of headers for sale . Thanks

I have them on my 69 and they fit great. Plenty of ground clearance.

Mixup , do they come down below the frame at all ? Did you run your exhaust under the crossmembers or above. Thanks

Buddy of mine used the El Camino headers on a 83 2WD blazer and they DID NOT drop below the frame, and those dimension are very near the same as our trucks as far as the frame depth and motor location. Or just use shorty's

Haven't gotten that far yet ... the truck has been "off the road" and "in the shop" for the past 2 years. And I don't see it getting back on the road anytime in the near future.

So, to answer your question ... I don't know yet.

I have a buddy with a short '72 lowered 4 and 6 and he tried at least 3 sets of conventional 4 into 1 headers before he found ones that would clear speed bumps. Can't remember the brand he ended up with. I am lowered just 2 and 4 on my '69 short step but I have manifolds and duals. No problems anticipated with these.

Shane. Nice firewall. Don't you need a heater down there or are you going to use a Vintage Air/ Heat type system?

LOL ... yeah, I noticed that after posting the pic also ... don't i feel like a dumba$$! I knew someone would pooint that out!

I had the shock up out of the way while working on the airbag setup that weekend.

For what it's worth, I'm only a kid "at heart" ... LMAO!

What kind of valve cover and air cleaner do you have on your motor? Are they Wysco?

What kind of headers can I use on a big block for more ground clearence?

Dunno the exact brand ... I picked them up at the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, KY a few years back. They are import pieces ... NOT Billet Specialties, Zoops or any of the other "name brand." I got them in a "package deal" along with the push in breathers, a flywheel inspection cover and a TH-350 tranny pan.

The only piece that is true billet is the breather ... the rest are cast and then machined to resemble billet.
