six popper in cheyennes?
this may be a dumb question, but did six cylinder engines come in cheyennes in 1971? i've never seen one. i'm interested in a truck, and the owner says it was origionally a six cylinder, now has a 350. kinda wondered if it's really a cheyenne. thanks!!

I know you could get a Cheyenne without air conditioning, tilt, etc. It was its own package. I suppose you could order a Cheyenne package with a 6 cylinder truck though most would be ordered with a V8. Check the glove box sheet. (It may say CST for a 71.)

I didn't think the '71 had the CST package.

It is completely possible for a Cheyenne to have a 6 cyl. The Cheyenne package is just a trim package. Headliner, nice seat, etc... The reason that most Cheyennes are 8 cyl are because the people who were already willing to fork over the extra cash for the luxuries were also willing to pay for a big engine, air conditioning, etc...

86swb, no, there was no CST on a 71 truck, but the SPID label in the glove box normally did read CST in 71....and on the blazers and I think burbs too, they maintained the CST badges in 71/72
