C-20 on 19's!! (not what you think)

I drug this one in a few days ago. Check out the wheels! Actually they are 19.5" . Look at the difference between the wheels on the truck compared to the 15's on my trailer!! I think they are the Kelsey wheels and were available in the 60's and 70's. I was told this was a government truck. It had 350, 4 speed and NoSpin (locker type rear end). She's pretty much stripped and ready for the crusher. I did keep the wheels. Are they worth anything??

If you decide to sell them, please let me know. I have a set of 19.5 dually wheels off of one of these trucks, but I've never seen a 19.5 singles. I happen to have a nice set of 19.5 tires that would look great on them, and I'm in driving distance!

Re: C-20 on 19's!! (not what you think)

not sure if this is a true story or B.S.. many years ago a state worker was checking some salinity moniters on the property i was working on and his old 1/2 ton 69? chevy had some oddball sized rims--17.5s i think-- and he said the government used the weird sizes so the employees wouldn't steal the tires for their personal vehicles. i guess the govt had them specially made ????

Re: C-20 on 19's!! (not what you think)

I`d say the wheels are worth something to the true restorer. They are just the right touch for a certain type of truck. Also,on a truck that came with them originally, there`s a good chance they are long gone. So,for the correct restoration they are a necessity.
I know you saved that No-Spin,right?If you did and consider selling let me know, please.
UPS trucks, which were built on GM chassis forever, ran these wheels as well as 292s.The bodies are what were custom-built.

Re: C-20 on 19's!! (not what you think)

Crushed it today!! Looks like I'll have some people mad at me, but here's the deal - I paid $250 for it (no motor or trans). I pulled the NoSpin guts out, column, and wheels off and it crushed for $354. It did not have any good sheet metal on it worth keeping, in my opinion. I've gotten to where I do not keep sheet metal unless it's near perfect. It's too much trouble to store and haul big parts around to swap meets - especially here lately, no one's buying anything!!

Special-K - I'm keeping the NoSpin for my 1 ton project.
67 C-30 - I'll keep you in mind - not sure what I'm going to do with the wheels yet.

Thanks.
Before I put the duals on my C-30 I had the reversed dually wheels on there running them as singles, and I've wanted a single wheel 1 ton since. Those would be perfect for me since I alraedy have the new 19.5" tires.

Don`t worry about bad karma or anything about scrapping that. That already happened with the blue tailgate.
I have faith that if you junked it,it was junk.

That last truck needs saw blades or knives coming out from the axle. You could name it 006.

Talk about odd ball sizes...in '68 they offered 15, 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18, and 19.5 inch diameter wheels. Those 19.5's are just too cool...I'd powder coat'em and run'em!
