Question Keep the 3speed or go Auto?

Okay, I have a 67c10 that I was told the 3speed was rebuilt. The 292 is tired and I have several V8's lying around. One is a 305 from a Fbody 80's camaro. I thought about dropping this in with the 350 turbo behind it. However I do like the 3speed behing my 283 in my 63bel air. It makes the car somewhat "peppy". I was also going to put on a 60's 2bbl roch that's been rebuilt and ditch 2bbl smog intake. I want to have the most mpg. I have ideas on both tranny's. If you guys have a 3speed V8 let me know what you think.

EdB still has his original 3 speed in his truck and it is the only part never been touched or replaced. Except for convienence, you wont get any advantage going to an automatic over your manual. I don't think dubie is back yet, but he kept his manual 3 speed when he went 6 to 8.

My $.02, keep the manual, mount the V8 in the 6 position and that way you can use the same bellhousing crossmember. It is fun to stir a stick to make them go .

My C-20 is an original 350/3spd truck..............It doesn't work bad IMO and I'd certainly prefer it over an auto. I get decent gas mileage with it thanks to a bumped up rear ratio.

auto or 3sp

I know where a 68 C10 is for sale with a 3speed V8. I think I'll see if I can take it for a spin. I might like it. Thanks
