Sooo Confused

I ordered a DJM lowering kit week before last and decided to install it this weekend. The first thing it tells you is to check all measurements prior to installing the kit. When measuring I noticed the front passenger side was 1/2" higher than the front driver side (See pic below). I didn't think much of it as I thought the spring just didn't settle the same as the other. After installing the kit now the front passenger side is 3/4" higher than the front driver side. After scratching my head all day yesterday I noticed something that I thought was weird! I don't think the cab is sitting level on the frame or something. (See pic below) I hadn't had a chance to climb under it yet to see because I just noticed this in pictures I was looking through here at work. Any suggestions on what might be the problem?

im not an expert by any means. but id say your cab mount on the driver side is shot.

Ahhh you could be right. I just looked back at the picture and the body line from the cab to the bed on the driver side is not lined up. It looks to be approx. 1/2" off

You say that, but I just installed new mounts on my 86 and it looks the same!

Dang that sucks!!!! I worked for an hour turning the springs under the truck trying to even the front end out....no luck

Im hoping someone else has a suggestion that might help us both out. But currently mine sits just like yours and I have new body mounts under my body.

If you replace the mounts and its still off I believe you can shim the cab mounts.

Trying to get these trucks level is a real pain in the butt..I would think in your case you would have no choice but to shim the cab mount. Make sure that nothing is wrong with the bed mount first.

Isnt the bed mount just a bolt through the frame, with a small (1/8") spacer in between the bed and frame rail?

Personally I'd start off by crawling under it and measuring the bottom of the cab to the top of the frame. Right beside all 4 cab mounts. And compare the measurements. Adjusting the bed is easy, but make sure your cab is level first is what I'm sayin

Before you go crazy with the cab mounts, check the rear springs. After I dropped my truck, it leaned hardcore to the driver's side. It was a bad case of Chevy lean. This comes from many decades of the driver and the gas tank on the same side, with nothing as heavy on the other side. I swapped my leafs in the rear from side to side and it's not noticeable now at all.

I don't know if you can tell from the pics, but this is before the leaf swap. If you look at the front fender bottom to tire gap on the driver's side and the passenger side, you can see it's sitting higher on the passenger side. After the swap, it's pretty much even.

The dimensions were off on the front passenger wheel prior to installing the drop. I'll check everything I can once I have time. The front and passenger side back measure out the exact same. Hey man, I used your truck as a template for the tire size on my truck! Got my wheels and tires ordered early this week. Glad you posted the pics of your truck.

Good deal, man. Hope you like them as much as I do. I'm pretty happy about how it turned out and how the drop and wheels/tires are holding up. I drive it every day, and it sees a fair amount of potholes and otherwise crappy roads.

I still crack up when I think about you negotiating the purchase of your truck with the old dude outside in his tighty whiteys.

This truck won't be my daily driver so I am sure I will be more than happy with it. I plan on making it my "Drive to Work on Friday" vehicle.

Try flipping the leaves from the driver side to the ps and same with the springs. I had this same issue on my 82 lwb before I sold it.

Ok so I climbed under the truck yesterday (Finally) and this is what I found. Now remember that the truck was sitting a 1/2" unlevel prior to installing the drop kit. The a-arms are closer on the driver side than they are on the passenger side. Approx. 1/2"

Are those stock springs or aftermarket?

I'd start looking at spring height between the two springs and maybe a-arm bushings!

There is a "spring pocket' where the end of the coil sits, it's designed to keep the spring from rotating. Possibly spring is not seated on high side.

problems with the rear springs can effect ride height also , as mentioned earlier.
