I have got an issue with my antenna. It seems like the rubber gasket has rotted away and the antenna just flops everwhere. How can i fix this? Can i buy a gasket for the antenna?? I dont have money to do any kind of body work etc. here is a picture.

Until I saw your picture, I thought I could help you. I don't think you have as much of a gasket problem and a problem with a place to mount the gasket.

There are probably thousands of cowls in that color lying around the country. I may even know of one for sale. Locate one and install it. It's really simple as body projects go, probably really cheap, and it will prevent you from going nuts trying to repair a hole.

How about some stainless washers till you can do the body work.
Or an aftermarket antenna with a bigger base.

anybody used aftermarket antennas? Anybody get pictures??

It looks like the hole is still intact and the antenna base may be large enough to cover the hole. If you can get a hole measurement, I can check the bases that I have to see if they will cover the hole. Another option is to use a Ford antenna, (if you don't want to change the cowl which the antenna mounts to)
since the older ones have a fairly large base that screws down with four screws.

Regardless you will have to pull the cowl to remove the antenna, and that is pretty easy to do. There are two bolts on each side and two rows of phillips screws to remove after removing the wiper arms.

Replaceing the cowl would be easy and cheap compared to how long it would take to do body work and paint......

This is a cowl. Here is a link to one on the parts board for $25. (link They're quick and easy to replace. Best of luck.
