67 SWB fleetside project looking to buy NEW complete bed
Hello all,
I am new to the forum so I thought I would share a couple of pics of my project 67 pickup. It's sporting a fuel injected 5.7L Vortec and 4L60E with drop spindles, Wilwood brakes, and many custom parts. I started on this truck over 10 years ago, but my previous job and now working on customer cars since I've opened my own shop, forced me to put into storage for the last 10 years. Well I've finally desided to pull it out and finish the truck so I can enjoy it this spring and summer. I'm looking to buy a brand new complete fleetside swb bed with wood floor, stainless strips, and lettered tailgate. Any suggestions on the best place to buy a complete bed? Thanks, Joe |

Re: 67 SWB fleetside project looking to buy NEW complete bed
Thanks,
The color is called "intense blue metallic" it had just came out when I had the truck painted about 11 years ago. The brakes are the new Wilwood D-52 GM replacement caliper on a set of stock size slotted/drilled rotors. The caliper lets you use spindles with stock style caliper mount. I'm a Wilwood dealer, so I thought I should try them out on my own project. Joe |

The calipers are a direct bolt in replacement for the stock GM calipers, but they have two pistons instead of a single piston and are powdercoated red. They have large bore calipers for the front and smaller bore for the rear, but do not have a parking brake. Thanks, Joe Last edited by powerdriver 1958; 01-24-2010 at 07:12 PM. |

mark-k are nice people and have great products...can get oak pre-cut and the strips/crossmembers...and they have 10% off plus free shipping through the end of the month.
Mike's Bump and Grind/TRI-Pro/GMC pauls/Christians Classics are all good dealers for the bedsides/wood header panel, and tailgate.

WOW! I honestly don't think I could have put her away for 10 years with it being so close! Looks great!
About the bed, contact board member gcburdic. He's not too far from you and he bought a complete brand new bed for his truck and he got a great deal on a "package deal." He's great to talk to and very helpful. I don't remember who he got it from. Here's his build thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=299418 See post 17.

Who makes those wheels and what size are they? They look awesome with your truck.

Try "Top Banana Parts" they're listed as a vendor here. They will quote you everything you need and are close enough to go pick up your stuff, saving you tons on shipping.

Re: 67 SWB fleetside project looking to buy NEW complete bed
Wheels are Boss 338 18's. I got the bed parts from Dave's Truck parts in Conover, NC. I don't remember the manufacturer. The metal was decently thick and sturdy, but it took a LOT of tweaking to make it all fit together like I wanted. Typical aftermarket parts. They are 90% there, but the last 10% is a real PITA.

Mar-K is one of the best vendors I've ever dealt with. That would be my first stop for a new bed.
