Post up your mirrors

So I recently got my truck painted and have been driving with no mirrors, I like the look without, but keep trying to use them while driving.

So what are my options? I am totally against peep mirrors!!

Thumbs up Re: Post up your mirrors

Well most people don't like them. I think they are fine. If I didn't they wouldn't have been done.
The mirror you had looks fine to me to.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I wanted to keep my truck as stock as possible which explains the mirrors.

I would guess med. as the camper mirrors are longer. (I think) These are called "Below Eye Level" mirrrors. In 71-72 these the legs of the mirrors were not as long.

Re: Post up your mirrors

my 72 burb 3/4 ton has the factory chrome sport mirrors. they are pitted terribly and i want something (need) something better for regular driving duty and towing. my dad had a 72 burb back in the 80's (rare dealer option highlander truck) and it had the short arm tripod mirrors EXACTLY like Chisler has on his truck (sans updated mirror heads).

my opinion is they are the best compromise between style and function on an everyday use truck of the 67-72 vintage. you get the big head like with the towing mirrors but the arms are much sleeker and don't break up the body lines too bad. i had a pair of '84 burb towing mirrors but decided to pick up a pair of the factory tripod mirrors instead. i will have to get a pic once the mirrors are cleaned up and installed (old holes filled in and painted).

I might be wrong but those do not look like factory mirrors for our trucks. I might be wrong. Others???

he mentioned (and i repeated in my post) that the mirrors heads were swapped out for the next generation style that bolt on from the side instead of in the middle of the back. maybe i will use the mirror heads off my towing mirrors if i can figure out how to take them off.

Re: Post up your mirrors

wlf89 has the mirrors like on my burb. they look "sporty" as the nickname implies but they just don't give me a good view out back and i have to turn them or move myself to see things. i like the big 7.5 x 10.5 mirror heads like with the tripods and towing mirrors and they make parallel parking, backing up and towing sooo easy. also, bigger mirrors just look correct on a truck. the sport mirrors would look more in tune on a first generation camaro or on a hot rod.

Re: Post up your mirrors

First off, very, very, nice truck! Secondly, I like the style of mirrors chisler has on his truck and that is what I plan on putting both of mine. They are called below eye line mirrors if I remember correctly.

Re: Post up your mirrors

And for the record, Jrbeck64's mirrors don't look that bad on that truck. I'd like to see a side shot of it. Those mirrors are pretty easy to come by. Forrd or not who cares.

Too funny JRBeck- I've been looking for mirrors and saw a 90's F150 and happen to look at the mirrors and said, "Those would be perfect!".

I didn't see any bashing. I saw difference of opinons on mirrors and some tongue in check responses...thats one of the difficulties of typing responses.
JRBECK64...use the mirrors that best fit your needs and your application. The end result is you need to be happy with the direction that you go.
