Door handle slow

Is it normal for the inside door handle when lifted to fall slowly back down? Or should it snap back down once lifted up?
I lift mine up and it slowly if not doesnt fall all the way down?

Any ideas? Is the latch shot?

Return spring is broken on the remote mechanism. I haven't found a way to repair them.... I would try the lube first like the others have suggested though. Much easier if it works...

Re: Door handle slow

I used the Special WD-40 , dry lube rust inhibitor, to lube the door hardware on mine.
Before I did, rolling the driver's side window was a two-handed tasks, now it works fine.

Re: Door handle slow

I am rebuilding my doors right now. Both of my springs are broken. The new door handle mechanisms are $19.00 each.

Re: Door handle slow

Is it the door latch that is the issue? That 50$ or so.
Where is the spring that is broken so I can look on mine

I'm not sure traditional WD is the way to go here. It's a lubricant to some extent, but it's intent is a cleaner and water displacement. It's good for removing rust and some adhesives. Silicon is probably a better option.

Hadn't seen it called "Remote mechanism" - a.k.a. door latch control. The spring on my LH control was broken and same symptoms.

Re: Door handle slow

Thanks everyone. The control was shot. I ordered a new one and it snaps back quite well. No lubricant was gonna fix the old one.

Re: Door handle slow

Yes. I already had to doors torn apart as they were getting painted. So putting it back in was no biggie.
