I finally got my Blazer painted(PIC'S)*UPDATED WITH NEW PIC'S*

Got the Blazer out of the paintbooth today.
I still need to reassemble the truck and the paint needs to be wet sanded and buffed out but it feels good to finally get it painted.
I painted it the orig. factory yellow. It's pretty damn BRIGHT!!!

I'll post a link to all the pic's when the truck is fully reassembled.
WOOHOO!!

Thumbs up

Looking good!! I like that color, looks like the "Light yellow" as the glove box would read. It is kind of a bright color.

It would prob. take a good week to put it back together but I'm taking my time plus I'm going on vacation for 2.5 weeks next week,so... prob. by next month it should be back together.

I got the windshield in today. No real problems.I've heard of guys cracking a couple before they actually get it right.
It took me about 2hrs to put in though.

I'll be sanding down the rest of the fiberglass top tommorrow.Taking it down to the grey gel coat layer.I'll be applying a white roll-on product that replicates the orig. rough finish of the top.
This is the top so far.

I had a rack on the roof so I had to fill the mounting holes.

I also had cracks at each corner of the roof as well as a large crack on the lift gate, right were the t-handle is.
I filled all the cracks with an epoxy like filler/bonding agent.

Here is the stuff I'll be useing to re-cover the top. It's a 2 part system you mix together and it's white.I saw a sample of it and the finish is very similar to the factory "rough" finish on our blazer tops.

Local autobody supply store, about $30-$40 bucks. Here is the product site. It's a Canadian company located in Toronto.

http://www.dominionsureseal.com/

The site says the Acklands there in Flin Flon is a dealer and should carry the stuff.

Bobby, great looking paint job. Good luck getting the truck back together.

I'm starting a frame off on a '75 Blazer. I need to restore my top as you did, for similar reasons... a. there are some surface cracks that will need fiberglass repair, and b. the top was previously sanded smooth and painted.

Anyway, I've searched high and low for the correct texture finish for the top. Was previously considering rocker panel paint, or possibly a marine product called 'Allgrip'.

Please let me know how the Gator product works out, or if you've discovered any other product that more perfectly represents that strange texture on the Blazer tops.

Thank you, Greg

Bobby, did you ever get the Gator on the top? I'd love to see pics (close ups) of the application when you do!
Thanks, Greg.

I really like the all black windshield rubber...looks good. Did you use the small diameter rope method to install?

Man, that came out nice. It looks mighty shiny for not even being wet sanded yet. Kinda makes me want to consider "yella."

I tried the rope method but my "rope" was too small(it was string).I put the gasket on the window 1st then inserted the top of the window into the pinch weld.I the just worked the gasket with my fingers, sides then bottom. It took me 2hrs and my finger were killing me after.

Here are the pic's of the top after the Gator Gaurd was applied.
We used 2 cans and that still wasn't enough. It's a little thin in some spots.
I think I'll be painting it with some glossy marine paint as the finish with the Gator Gaurd is somewhat flat.We used a "Shutz gun" to spray the Gator Gaurd on.
It's very close to the look of the orig. finish.I think if we sprayed it a little thicker it would look better.

The rebuild is almost complete:p
