68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Long time user, first time poster. I've been on this forum for many years waiting for the opportunity to be able to start a build thread, and that day has finally come. I'm gonna ramble on here a little bit, but bear with me, there will be pictures!
I bought my truck about 7 years ago from NV because here in Maine most everything is complete rust. The PO had already started on rebuilding the truck so the frame had already been cleaned up, but the body had not been touched, other than being completely disassembled when I bought it. Since I bought it, I have had it in storage waiting for the time to come where I could afford to build my truck the way I wanted it to be built. A couple months ago I got on the phone with Dave over at Porterbuilt Street Rods and ordered up my full Extreme front and rear Dropmember kit along with an Accuair I-level air management system. Well last week, those parts finally arrived and man, do those guys over at Porterbuilt do an amazing job! I also ordered up a couple other things that have finally arrived, one of those things being CPP's Big Brake Kit. And another being Michigan Metal Work's upper and lower control arms. Both things look amazing and I can't wait to get them mocked up. So here's where I am at with this build. My frame is completely stripped down and ready to go, hopefully this weekend I can get started on it. Below are some photos of when I got the truck 7 years ago, in a sort of complete way and now with the frame completely disassembled. I've also included a render I did of the route I'm thinking I want to go. Ok enough talk, here are the pics of the truck and frame. Peace, Rick

In the meantime, I wanted to show you something a buddy made for me at his machine shop he works at. They're the caps for my upper control arms. I won't be putting them on for a while, but they'll make great paper weights for now.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
So UPS finally arrived tonight! And look what showed up!
Here are the specs: they are Bonspeed Big Blocks, 20x8.5 w/5.25 BS for the front and 22x10 w/5.5 BS for the rear. They're polished hoops with brushed metal centers. They look amazing! I'm so happy with how them came out! I'm going to be running Nitto NT420S for tires, 255/40/20 for the front and 285/35/22 for the rear. Should have the tires mounted by the end of next week.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Lovin' that wheel selection, plus those caps will look great as a replacement to the "M" that come with the arms.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Thanks! When I saw these rims, I knew I had to get them and then Bonspeed had a Buy 3 Get 1 Free deal and that put them in range of my budget!

Thanks! I've been thinking about this build for about 7 years now so I've had some time to nail down what I want in my truck.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Awesome build! I'm just beginning a bagged '68 SWB project myself. What color is actually going to be? (I'll can't if it's blue or gunmetal in the rendering)

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Thanks!
Nice! I've had the render in Photoshop and I've been playing around with colors for quite a while. Right now, I'm thinking the color is going to be somewhere along the lines of a dark blue, like slate blue, and maybe a little desaturated, so that's why it's looking a little like gunmetal too. It's a blue you don't see everyday…I hope!

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
I'll be watching this one! I've always wondered how curved those spokes are on those wheels. Can you take a picture from an angle that shows the curvature of the spoke?

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Yea, definitely, I'll try and grab that angle today. They are curved slightly, but nothing too much. They way they are cut makes they appear more curved then they are.

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
Hey Josh, here's a couple close ups of the curvature of the spokes. I think these show it pretty well. I'm sure there will be many more pics to come of the rims! I just want to look at them all day! haha

Re: 68 C10 Project FROSTBYTE Extreme Dropmember
No problem! I had to take a picture of the car after I got everything in there. I got some pretty funny looks driving around like that! haha
