Changed the oil/filter and rotated the tires on my 4Runner. Went to the gym for an afternoon workout because it’s too hot outside to do much unless you have to.

Replaced every component and hose in the AC system on my wife’s Yukon. Vacuumed it down, charged it up, and now have 40 degree air in 110 degree weather

The photos don’t quite do justice. It’s really idyllic at least in the summer and fall. Not crowded. It’s been just over two years since we moved here and are really happy to be here.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

All those blueberries! Yum! By the time I got my sorry kiester out of bed and made breakfast for the wife and I (fried baby potatoes and bacon), it was too hot to go out in the garage and work on a carving I'm making. High point of the day I guess was taking one of our recycle bins over to the neighbor across the street to use. We share stuff back and forth. Last time I got help from them was putting 2 tons of gravel onto our parkway (though I was almost done by then, I'm not complaining!). There I was, an old man with a back brace, leaning against a tree, and the guy came running over and started slinging that gravel like I USED to be able to do when I was his age. And he wouldn't even take my money! That's good neighbors! I've given them leftover drywall from when I had to bust out and replace the drywall when the shower transfer valve in the front bathroom leaked, complete with tape and mud. That stuff will just get damaged and/or go bad if left around, plus I got rid of it. Win-win!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Went with my brother to help him purchase a Ford Probe about an hour away. We drove back separately(he had another errand to run), and I brought his 94 powerstroke home with a bed full of extra Probe engines and misc. parts.

Didn't have a phone with me, and got erroneous instructions to head east on 66 out of Manassas, instead of west. I found myself in bumper-to-bumper traffic on I-95 south, and the one hour trip home was stretched to double that.

Kipps, I was a bit west of where you went. I was west of Stephens City out VA55 a ways into Shenandoah County along Cedar Creek

Reminds me of when I came back from the wonderful Flagstaff area to Maryland. It may be humid back here with less open space and smaller mountains, but it has it's pluses and one is natures bounty on the table not hauled in by truck from who knows where. The difference between the comfortable arid climate and the humid east is you bust your butt to get anything to grow vs you bust your butt to keep everything from being overtaken by growth. That translates into the best farm country and locally produced food!

When I got back it was late summer and my friend had folks over for an outside party. His farmhouse was surrounded by corn field with some rows of sweet corn at the edge of his yard. We cooked some straight off the stalk. We had pork tenderloin on the grille from a local farm, crabs and sea trout from the Chesapeake Bay, cole slaw made with cabbage from his garden cabbage, peach daiquiris made from peaches we picked an hour earlier, and cucumber/onion salad from fresh picked.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What did I do yesterday? Same thing I did on Saturday. I hooked up my trailer and drove two hours to go load cinder block to haul home for a big cellar improvement project on my place. I had placed a WTB listing on Craigslist for 250 and found all I needed for $50, that's $.20@ compared to $1.10@ retail. But two hours away. I decided it would be nice to go see this patch of Virginia I haven't covered. Sometimes it's about more than cost effective, but I did get about $300 worth of block for $50 + $50 in fuel, while getting out to some fine country through apple orchards and into the mountains a bit. I've also been hunting for a place to move to farther out from the rat race, and I have found interesting places in this area in my searching. Not real far from my one sister either and closer to my mom, too.

I stopped by this little store and got a sandwich. The friendliest pretty lady I've spoken to in a long time. The feller, probably her husband, and a younger gal making sandwiches, possibly their daughter, all made it a great downhome welcome experience that made me feel like I belonged there.

Did some maintenance on the mower, it's about the halfway point of the cutting season here, so hit all the grease fittings. Noticed a cracked up PTO belt ready to let loose, ordered one up. Fabbed up a rear mount for the 25 gal sprayer also

I finished off the last fresh blueberries we had on top of made from scratch cheesecake.

I have to have a stepladder to pick my wife's tomatoes.

Then I finished bush hogging the weeds behind the house.

Yup, you live in California. Washed the vehicle and there's no water remaining on the driveway! I'm guessing that it boiled off.

One of my sons and I laid out some pavers and bricks to help in moving the propane grill up next to the east wall in the back yard. Sacks of concrete mix and mortar mix were involved. Man, I am getting too old for this stuff.

ETA- I'm nodding off here at the keyboard, so I guess that I'll be signing off. #gettingoldbeatsthealternative

I'm an outside sales rep and actually got to leave my house for the first time since March and see customers. Was a little weird actually talking to someone for work in person again vs phone or email

Hey, that is what I do as well. I have been travelling some, but only about 10-20% of what I normally do. Being cooped up starts to wear on me but I slip off to the shop from time to time.

It was 107 degrees here. So I didn't do much.

But I did bravely go out into the oppressive heat to go buy some beer. Does that count as a chore or a mission?

Mission, it would be a chore if the beer was for someone else.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Well, on Saturday I woke up here,
And went to bed here. All to see this guy one more time.
Last minute trips to put someone you love in the ground suck bad.
I wish I had my Camaro and K20 to take a drive in right now, they always put a smile on my face.
The plus side is I’m going to get as lost as humanly possible in the George Washington National forest in a few days. It’s only when I come home that I’m reminded of how much I love and miss my home of the Appalachians. As for my Grandaddy, when it’s time to go back home, it’s time to go back home. His health has been gradually failing for a few years now and it had taken a big dive through out this year. I’m happy for him that he’s free and not stuck with a strong mind in a failing worn out body. I got 1 month short of 32 years with my best friend in this life. I’m at peace with it all. Truly Happy for him but gonna miss him like hell. Now enough of this kind of stuff! Today is a trip to My favorite place here at home. Harpers Ferry. Also... I know the value of a good woman. My wife has kept me going thru all of this and I can’t express my love for her enough right now.

Was going to mill some Hickory white and red oak today but yesterday the mills hydraulics stop working chased it down to a solenoid. Was hoping that one could be had locally ,no such luck. So it will have to wait so I laid the flooring down . Over 24 hours so the leveler should be dry .

Picture from yesterday gassing up the mill
