Talking intermediate steering shaft pot joint dust boot
Does anyone know where to buy an intermediate steering shaft pot joint dust boot for our trucks? I found the GM part number 7802919 but it's discontinued. there are a few places like "Ecklers Trucks" but $35.00 for a rubber seal, Geez........guess I'll have to comb the boneyards looking for a good one.....I think GM cars and trucks used the same one from 68 to 79.....
anyone know of a cheaper subsitute? someone on a camaro site said they used one from a Jeep CJ part number croj8132676 here's a link:

Classic truck parts get classic prices! Especially if it's an item that is not purchased all that much. If it's the right one, I wouldn't even hesitate to spend 35 bucks on it. Looking trough a wrecking yard for an old rubber seal is going to be a crapshoot. Plus it won't be in much better condition than what you're working with now.

Inline Tube carries the boot and retaining ring. Part number for the boot is INL 12240.

Just looked, and Inline Tube has them for 26 bucks. So a bit of a saving.

I have ordered from Inline Tube before and am very happy with their stuff.

Get a shaft from an early XJ and eliminate the rag joint and the boot. Less money and a better solution.

Omix-Ada 18018.01 Steering Shaft Coupling Boot (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) was recommended on another thread and fit great on my '69 K10.

This works for square body trucks, but the steering columns in our trucks have a splined output shaft on the column so this will not bolt up?
