Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
I may add the aux tank option to my 72 and already have the in-bed spare tire holder. Not sure if the location of the fuel neck/bracket interferes with the spare holder. Don't think so but haven't seen a truck optioned this way yet.

Anyone seen a 72 truck with both these options?

Re: Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
Auxiliary fuel tank was a factory option. In-bed side-mount spare was a dealer accessory. I don't know if the auxiliary tank filler is forward enough to clear the tire mount. They weren't engineered to work together as if they had both been factory options.

Re: Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
I didn't realize the in-bed spare was a dealer accessory. I've seen them painted to match the bed so assumed it was a factory option but I suppose that could be done at the dealership. Guess that means it could also be mounted on the passenger side?! Thanks for the reply.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall ever seeing tone listed as an option.

Re: Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
That would be RPO P13 for a factory installed carrier. Also available as an accessory and aftermaket. I've seen them factory mounted only on the left front. Also have period pictures of twin mounts (left & right). My '72 Custom/10 had an aftermarket in the left rear. Worked out pretty good too. Out of sightline and a place to stash stuff around. The data book does not show a restriction for the side mount carrier P13 other than Fleetside or Longhorn. The aux tank NL2 was available on 20-30s Fleetside or Longhorn. As I recall the carrier was T shaped and bolted to the inside top bed lip and down through the floor. If the fill pipe cover is flush with the rail, then they should fit fine together. In thinking about it I'd imagine most people wanting more fuel would go for the dual tank set-up, either accessory or aftermarket.

Re: Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
This makes me think there is a restriction. In fact, wouldn't it mean it's for a Stepside?
I should have thought a little more before answering the mount was an accessory and not an option. But,I have never seen the combo before and, even though the duct for the aux.tank filler sits flush with the inside of the bed rail, the issue would be whether the duct is located forward enough to not interfere with the "T" of the mount. The tire mount needs to sit forward enough to allow room for the tire in front of the wheel house...especially with a taller 3/4t tire.

Re: Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
It is a factory option # P13.
I gather this combo of options was either very rare or not available at all.

Re: Any 72 trucks optioned with factory aux tank and in-bed spare holder?
I'm pretty sure P13 was the option on a fleetside. Not sure if same was used for step side.
It's the bracket fitment in the anterior-posterior dimension that I'm most curious about. I'll crack the assembly manual and see what I can dig up but I haven't figured out yet how that book is organized. My K20 bed already has the spare mount and I've collected the parts for the 72 aux tank (more or less) and really want to install both. I'll likely install an aux tank regardless but would prefer to do a "correct" factory 72 type install (I've got the 70 between frame fleetside aux tank parts too).

Thanks a lot! Looks like the two brackets will not interfere with each other. I really appreciate the help.
