air bag setup?

So i just started building my 71 c10. Plans are to bag it. I was planning on running the full porterbuilt setup but my buddy had been sitting on this frame for a while and gave it to me. I now how bags work but as far as the details of them not so well so any help would be appreciated. So my questions are

#1. Would it be easier to just use this frame with the rear setup and run the porterbuilt front end?

#2. What are the advantages/disadvantages of running the airbags farther up on the trailing arms as opposed to the axle?

heres a few pictures of the frame he gave me.

Re: air bag setup?

Are you wanting to lay the frame all the way on the ground? The notch is gonna be too short for that. Depending on tire size, you're gonna be at least 3-4 inches off the ground when the axle is bottomed in the notch.

Re: air bag setup?

You are going to get more lift with the bag in the mounts on the frame in the picture. With the bags on the axle you will still have lift but not as much. That frame looks like the stuff we were doing in the late nineties. We would try to twist any thing we could. lol. The PB stuff is top notch, you will not be dissapointed in it. Call nate or pm him. He will explain options on sleeve bags and convuluted bags on the axle, I learned the hard way.

It's funny you say that because Ekstensive built the frame about 8-10 years ago. It's just been sitting in his garage

Re: air bag setup?

The way I was leaning originally was to lay frame. Obviously I couldn't really pass up a free frame. I was just wondering if I could set that one up and save a little money but i know it would need a bigger notch.

I would cut it out and start over if it was me.

I agree since you're looking to lay frame. That notch would probably match up well with just a set of lcas from Nate as far as how low you would get.

I read too that mounting the bag that far from the axle or that close to the arm pivot puts a lot of stress at the pivot.
