Update on my 70
So here are some picture of when I bought my 70 when I was 17 and what it looks like now a year later. What do you guys think? I got a little body work left to do on that door and replace that rocker but that will be done next weekend. When I buy the crome trim for dividing the white and black how will I attach it since this truck never had it?

Re: Update on my 70
That chrome was held in place with little studs and plastic clips that the chrome just popped on here is a pic of the studs to get those put on I think the make a tip that allows you to weld those on with a stud welding dent puller maybe a body guy will chime in

Re: Update on my 70
To put the trim on that never had it is buy the plastic clips and use small screws to attach the plastic clips. If you can't find small enough headed screws a little grinding may be in order. It is easier than trying to weld on studs for me.

Re: Update on my 70
An off the wall question, is that a 67-72 rear sport bumper, or is that for the 73-87 trucks? It just seems to fit a little differant than I have seem.
BTW its looking good though. |

Re: Update on my 70
Thanks for the comments.
Its an aftermarket 67-72 sport bumper with aftermarket brackets. Its a little lower on the passanger side but its just an adjustment. It's coming off for a final coat of primer and it will be adjusted when going back on.

Re: Update on my 70
Yeah the little studs are put on with a stud welding dent pulling gun, its very easy to do just need to find a cab to look at and messure how far apart they are. I used one awile back on a newer car at the body shop, the adapter come with the gun and some studs for it , works very well, The truck looks great make sure to post pics after finshing.

Re: Update on my 70
Years ago new stainless and aluminum body trim came with the plastic clips and small phillips head screws to attach them. They even had a coating on the tips to seal the hole against rust. Could be some body shop supplys can still get them. It's a long shot I know as most everything now days is plastic and vinyl.

Re: Update on my 70
I guess that's why my use screws post looked out of place. It was years ago when I was doing it. Yep, just another case of oldtimers.
