anybody used the brothers frame jig kit

Do a search, a guy here just did this kit. Within the past 2 months I think.
I believe the concept is sound if your really nervous about doing it.
But why be nervous. Its so simple.

1. Remove cab
2. Loosen up fuel lines and tie to trans
3. remove rear brake line at rear and just before front suspension
4. Move rear cab mounts back 12"
4. Cut 12" out of flat part of frame behind trans crossmember.
if you want a fish plate cut one from the piece you just cut out, bolt or weld it.
5. Cut 8" off rear of frame
6. Cut 10" off front of rear brake line, fit it up and make bends to match ones cut off, then make final cut, double flare it and reinstall brake line
7. Reinstall fuel lines
8. Install cab
9. Fit bed, drill hole through last bolt hole in bed through frame

I think I'm going that route but am trying to sort out what to do with my bed. I don't want to lose the hard earned patina.

I'm sure nobody else can do the work like he did, BUT his method for the bed floor saves a lot of welding, I would do it his way for sure on the floor!

Cant help you much with your patina problem. Your hands are somewhat tied with your rear bed side marker light. But the idea behind the Brothers kit is to shorten your wheel base without removing the cab. I dont know much about your situation, but I am without a place to set mine off. So, I have a plan to shorten mine on the cheap, utilizing the same concept. You can check out my build thread in the projects section and follow it through. The bed will be easy, cause I dont have paint.

ebfabman has done a real nice bed shortening job (thread on here somewhere) and he is local to me. I asked him if he was interested in doing mine and he suggested he was but I haven't heard back from him since.

I don't have the fabrication skills necessary to do what these guys can do. I'm great at fixing and mechanic stuff, not so good at making stuff happen from scratch.
