Pleated firewal; is it too busy?
Considering a couple firewall options and am on the fence with a few. I have not seen any of a few styles in person so I dont know how the finished result will be.
This one is sorta fun but I worry its too busy and doesnt 'fit' with the truck. This one will be the next choice: What firewall would be your choice? I was going to fab my own but I cant even get a good piece of sheet stock because of the virus thing. Tks! ~JH |

Re: Pleated firewal; is it too busy?
Even since I was a teenager (long, long time ago) less has always been more to me. The second option would never be out of style in my worthless opinion.

Thanks for the advice guys! It looks like #2 it is! I had to put it on a back burner for a while during this covid deal. Im doing what I can to help thousands of people in multiple states in the Pacific Northwest from getting ill and its taking a toll on my projects. -Things are currently easing up however. It wont be long till Im back at it! ~JH |

Re: Pleated firewal; is it too busy?
I wondered if he just meant by staying home. I wish there was something I could do to help. I was just looking at some groceries my older son left here that I really don't want. He's been by and didn't take them. That's when it hit me, DONATE THEM!

I wish I could stay home! (*Im also not looking for accolades; I am just a small stone in the river. Many peoples contributions are far greater than mine). 95% of what I have been doing is procurement and distribution of ppe, sanitizer, bleach, cleaning supplies (tractor trailer level amounts). Ive also brainstorming and implementing ideas to limit peoples exposure with common contact surface and other potential transmission methods in areas where 6' distance mandates are not possible. The biggest issue is that a huge portion of the operation dependent employees must work in close proximity. Its a scary situation and we cant stop running. Im not going to say who this is for but they drive big brown trucks and deliver packages all day. So far we have been lucky. ~JH |

Re: Pleated firewal; is it too busy?
I would second that it would be best to patch up your current firewall. I watched a recent video that used a firewall cover, it just added quite a bit of bulk and didn't really contour as well as you would expect, which means that it isn't plug and play and requires careful fettling.
But I would also vote for #2! Good luck. |

Re: Pleated firewal; is it too busy?
Phenomenal amount of talent went into that pleated firewall... absolutely amazing work. I too would select a more simple design personally, but I have to respect an artist.

Re: Pleated firewal; is it too busy?
#2 and maybe machine turn the recessed area and clear coat? Machine turning always looks good imo and if it looks too busy you could paint over it

Oh, yeah, that would look cool! I'm weighing that or wood for my instrument panel and glove box door. Machined might make my wife dizzy, though.
