Stock Gear Ratio's
Does anyone know what the stock differential ratio's in a 1970 1/2 ton were?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe most v-8s had the 3.07. 6cyl had the 3.73.....of course it could have been optioned in various ways. If you can pull the numbers off the passenger side axle tube the guys on here can decode it and tell you. Mine decoded out to a 3.73 and it originally had a 6cyl, but when I cracked it open I found 3.07

Which just goes to show you can't count on stock stuff in a 30+ year old diff.
I say pop off the cover and count the teeth. Fill it with fresh oil while your in there too. |
