Re: 1972 blazer mirror?

My 72 blazer arrived with one mounted above. The mount was very different from the mirror mount on my 71 C10.

Re: 1972 blazer mirror?

As with many of the model changes back then, there were some hold overs in the early production numbers for that year - Probably due to left over stock. You may have gotten one of those.

Re: 1972 blazer mirror?

Moving the rear view mirror to the windshield was one of the 'changes' from the 71 model year.

If it looks identical to a 71 mount, then it's a hold over as Bouncy suggests.
If it looks after market then there's your answer.

Post pics, it would be interesting to see.

Re: 1972 blazer mirror?

It is an OE. I have to repair a couple of the thread inserts that the top bolts to on the windsheild header so I am going to have to repaint it anyway. I was thinking of changing it to something else & filling the holes in while I was there.

Re: 1972 blazer mirror?

Or someone simply took a mirror from earlier years and mounted it to the frame cuz they were tired of their kids allways kicking it off the window while pretending the roll cage was a jungle gym to play on

Or your front clip was changed and you really own a 1970 K5

Re: 1972 blazer mirror?

After the windshield mounted mirror on my '72 fell off a couple times off-road I went to the JY and got one to mount to the windshield frame. PO might have done the same.
