How do you drain the gas tank?
My truck was sitting up for a couple of days (with the gas cap off) and now I am able to get it up and running again. I want to drain the tank of the old gas. How might I do this? I took the big sending line off of the tank and nothing came out, yet when I blew through it, I could here bubbles and the tank reads half full. What do yall think?

If the tank is original might not hurt to pull it out and empty it then get it boiled out or cleaned.

Re: How do you drain the gas tank?
go under cab, remove the small lenth of rubber tubing, replase with a longer piece of tube that you put in a suitable container then remove gas cap and lopressure air hose and rags tight around the filler neck // that will push the majority of the gas out the tank

Re: How do you drain the gas tank?
Had I got your post a little earlier cdowns, I would have tried that. It sounds like a good idea. I ended up pulling the tank and emptying it out. It was a good learning experience and it was cool to see how it worked. Thanks guys.

Re: How do you drain the gas tank?
If you wanted to do a complete drain and refill, then you did the right thing.
Pulling the hose from the bottom will get most of the gas out so it will be easier to handle but there will be a few gallons left on the bottom -and that's where all the junk is. |
