Interior removal question. panel by feet

not sure of the name but its the panel next to the feet that allows air flow when open. i took all the screws out but that butterfly valve(?)....has a piece that it swivels on. i cant seem to find a way to remove the hinge...
any help would be great. really want to get them out. going to paint the old panels black, get a dash, and wood bezel. might just repaint it blue... havent decided yet.

what year is your truck. i painted the kick panels in my '85 crew, & the vent flapper is hinged in the kick panel, will come out with the panel. there is a heavy bead of sealant (butyl?) around the hole which will make it feel like you forgot some bolts

some will come easy, some will fight you all the way, what can i say. i slipped a wonderbar under it from the bottom & just kept pressure on the panel while working the bar around the hole, once the initial bond is broke, it gets easier.

Alright. I have the door panel tool. I'll try it tomorrow. Now can you buy that gasket at auto parts stores or is it better to get weather striping at a Home Depot or lowes.

Re: Interior removal question. panel by feet

I used a putty knife when I removed them from my 78. Worked like a charm.

The driver side is much harder to get out because of the e-brake pedal, wold recommend pushing the pedal all the way down, then working the panel out, like the other guys said once you the the gasket cut loose it will be alot easier.
