67 step-side, 3 spd column, 327 build dilemma

Greetings good members. I've been a guest for a few years and am finally ready to see if I can get some insight on my 67 short-step C10 build. She's down to the cab, frame, and motor still hung in the mounts. I learned to drive a 3 on the tree and that's what I finally found 25 some odd years later. It has an ample but tired 327 w/ camel hump heads that I'd like to preserve and get rebuilt. I'm not sure if I wanted to pay $2Gs + (as quoted) to get it rebuilt , the tranny gone thru, reinstalled and tuned. I'm wondering if it would be more wise just to get an LS crate? I really want to just keep it a 3spd column. Fun to drive "to me." I know lots of folks think they're a pain. I'll let you guys ponder if you would. I'm interested the get feedback. Thanks!

Welcome to the board.
The problem with an LS3 connect and cruise crate motor is they are 13 grand which is a lot of money.

On the other hand you can find a LS3 complete pull out taken out of a wrecked car with low mileage for about 4 grand.
