ChevyDuty Problems

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with Chevyduty. I just talked to my dad who had ordered a switch from them for his 66. He place the order about a month ago and was told three times that the shipment would go out tomorrow. Needless to say my dad wasn't very happy considering it was the heater switch and it is pretty cold around here, cancelled the order. I know for sure they lost a potential customer forever, and I am still undecided. Just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble.

I have had two problems with them. The first is that they rarely have the parts I need in stock and it seems like it takes them weeks to get them on hand. I waited over 6 weeks for a pitman arm. The second problem is that the staff are generally not very knowledgable on our trucks. They go for the catalog when you ask them a question or they have to get a guy out of the back to answer a question you might have.

On the other hand, they have a great selection and I think they have great prices. I love the store front and will continue to do business with them. If they tell me they don't have a part I will shop elsewhere instead of waiting and if I have a technical question I will deal others as well.

I know GMC Paul, Wes, and Early Classics are all top notch and have staff that can answer any questions you might have.

Good Luck

Ditto on the lack of knowledge part. I went up there to get a set of poly cab mounts. I asked the guy (kid) if the cab mount kit came with the radiator core support mounts also. He had no idea, so he asked an older guy that was standing there if he knew. He had no idea, so he opened up the catalog and looked for a picture or description. Of course, as I already knew, the catalog didn’t say. So the kid went and pulled the part, set the box in front of me and told me I could check to see if all the parts were included. Now THAT’S customer service!!

So if you know exactly what you need and then have it in stock, I’d say go with them. If not, you may be getting yourself into a situation like 1971 Stepside was in. I've had no problem with delayed shipping or being shipped the wrong part.

Just don’t go to Manes Truck Parts in Raytown

OH YA !! Problems they have. I ordered a '67-72 blazer tank from them, and they sent me the wrong straps. So I called them, told them that thay had sent me the wrong straps. The lady I talked to said, we only carry that years straps, I said well you still sent me the wrong ones. After about 1/2 hour on the phone with these people, I finally got them to realize that they where wrong, and that the part that thay had sent me was for a '73-'80 something tank. So after asking her again, if they sell any other year straps than '67-'72. She still said NO WE ONLY '67-'72 STRAPS. I will never do bussiness with them FOOOOOOOOOOOOLS again. Still trying to figure out rather or not to send everything back for a refund. Good Luck. Try Mother Truckers.

Yeah, I think I have spoken to that very lady on the phone. She answers about all the calls coming in. She acts like she is doing you a favor just to talk to her. The first thing they could do to improve is get her some people relation skills or send her packing.

Before everyone gets down on Chevy Duty we must be fair and realize that ordering mix ups occur everyday for companies in this business. The important thing is that I assume they corrected their error with you landon4421???

Anytime you think a vendor is bad, just call LMC and then you will be reminded of how bad it could be.

YA LMC don't get me started with them. 3 or 4 times they have screwed me also. But like you said 1971 stepside, ordering mix ups occur everyday for companies in this business. And well life goes on and we deal with the mistakes.

I've ordered quite a bit from Chevy Duty as well as from others. I've had both excellent and mediocre service from them. I had stuff damaged in shipment and had it corrected right away. I've also had to wait on stuff so I just try and plan ahead. They still are my preffered vendor but I still look at everyone else on pricing and delivery. Seems everyone has sales going on right now and some with pretty good pricing.

I have been to Chevy Duty, cool place but I can relate to the ppl talking about the unknowledgeable staff. But I guess it could be a little bit hard getting staff that are deeply interested in or know every series of truck like the back of their hand.

I had some troubles with them recently but they did finally make good.

I ordered a chrome rear bumper and what I got was a disgrace! It was just thrown in a box with no wrapping, just some newspapers in the box. New bumpers are always wrapped in bubble wrap and an "oily" plastic cover (I know this as I my front one came this way from another vendor) but this one had none of that.

The bumper had signs that it was installed on a truck before and had peeled/damaged chrome. It was obvious to me that they sent it out with this damage as it couldn't have occured during shipping. It also had a kazillion scratches from sliding around in the box all during shipping.

I never had trouble with them before and placed many orders in the past. Im guessing they had some yo-yo working for them that sent me a returned bumper by mistake. I hope I got his ass fired as I wasn't too pleasant on the phone. I also wasn't too pleased with the way I was treated on the phone. I got the distinct feeling that they thought I was trying to pull a fast one on them! The lady said they would not send out another until they could inspect this one. I got a bit hot on that one!!!

It gets frustrating! I ran around for a few months without a bumper until this was taken care of. They did finally send me another one (properly wrapped) but it's hard to forget what I went through.

I've decided to not push my luck again with them and put all my CD catalogs in the oval filing cabinet. I'll deal with one of the vendors on the board here from now on as I know they would not screw a fellow member.

Just a guess but I'd say they should hire some better help. (another words, don't be so damn cheap and hire someone with a bit of experience!) That's more than likely the cause of my disaster.

Ok, im done now.

Im very pleased with the quality of there parts as Im building a showtruck. Take care, Doug

Good quality.

Guys the reason you have problems getting answers is that I dont work there any more.I used to be there tech guy for 7 years.I wish I was there when you came in slammed67.I used to look at your web page once a week.I would like to see your truck in person. If you need any questions answered ask to talk to the manager or the owner. They are next most knowledgable people there.

I have done alot of business with both Chevy Duty and LMC only because they are so close. When I order from LMC it usally comes next day. It's hard to beat that kind of service. On the other hand one time I called LMC for rear U-bolts for a 3/4 leaf spring truck. I couldn't convince anyone that leafs were even available.I find LMC to be somewhat more expensive than Chevy Duty. Also LMC only has a lady that takes orders and no tech info where as Chevy Duty will get you someone that at least knows something about our trucks if you have a question. The only problem I have ever had with Chevy Duty is the backorders. So if I want it now and want to pay alittle more, I order LMC, if I can wait I go Chevy Duty.Would prefer to do business with guys like Wes but it's strickly a location thing
Just my Thoughts

Try www.truckandcarshop.com I've had very good dealings with them, especially when there at the Good Guys Shows. My whole new interior came from them, head liner, carpet kit, door panels ect ect and fits like a glove. Did I mention lower than most on prices.

Checkem out. On line catalog www.truckandcarshop.com

I have hear a few things about CHEVY DUTY... None good, but I have never used them. I have used Brothers ( big $$$) Custom Classic Performance (big $$$) and LMC (little $$$). All met my satisfaction as far as service.
