Gulf Racing colors - Any such trucks out there?
I have posted a load of photos on here to get the juices flowing.....
But the question is: "Has anyone built, photoshopped or photographed a 60-66 truck in Gulf colors ?? " If so, please post on here. Just been reading a bit and got stuck on one of the race liveries most often copied. Gulf Oil Corporation WIKIPEDIA Says.... Gulf Oil was a major global oil company from the 1900s to the 1980s. The eighth-largest American manufacturing company in 1941 and the ninth-largest in 1979, Gulf Oil was one of the so-called Seven Sisters oil companies. Prior to its merger with Standard Oil of California, Gulf was one of the chief instruments of the legendary Mellon family fortune; both Gulf and Mellon Financial had their headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Gulf's former headquarters, originally referred to as "the Gulf Building" (now the Gulf Tower office condos), is an art-deco skyscraper. The tallest building in Pittsburgh until 1970, when it was eclipsed by the U.S. Steel Tower, it is capped by a step pyramid structure several stories high. Until the late 1970s, the entire top was illuminated, changing color with changes in barometric pressure to provide a weather indicator that could be seen for many miles. Gulf Oil Corporation (GOC) ceased to exist as an independent company in 1985, when it merged with Standard Oil of California (SOCAL), with both re-branding as Chevron in the USA. Retail stations in Canada were acquired by Ultramar the same year.[1] However, the Gulf brand name and a number of the constituent business divisions of GOC survived. Gulf has experienced a significant revival since 1990, emerging as a flexible network of allied business interests based on partnerships, franchises and agencies. Small pic for a small car..... ;D http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...07/1310014.jpg

Thank you, it is why I love older stuff and nostalgia. Here is a look of how I had planned to do my Transit van below. The thought has crossed my mind also to do our Pickup truck like a Race/drag support vehicle for a fantasy Sinclair Oil Corp racing team. Though I do believe Sinclair did venture into Nascar at one point. It would be great if someone has photos to post up on here for me as well, of any Sinclair Liveried cars and trucks. I doubt anyone has done that yet over in the USA, so doing it in the UK could be a great challenge and reward. Photoshop of how it was meant to end up in Sinclair Oil Corporation colours. Some more bad photoshops And a wild flight of fantasy.

Re: Gulf Racing colors - Any such trucks out there?
Someone just posted (a few days ago) an original truck in Gulf colours that was actually owned and painted by Gulf. It should be in the "show a pic" thread. I'll see if I can find it...

Re: Gulf Racing colors - Any such trucks out there?
^^^Are you sure it isn't? I saw something like that on Top Gear, a Morgan with a front mounted V-twin.
I think the paint scheme would look good on a fleet; blue truck with orange roof panel and orange trim line (to replace the chrome side trim)

Re: Gulf Racing colors - Any such trucks out there?
After checking the vast picture warehouse of the internet, BR3W CITY was right, It does appear to be a real Morgan.
Would still be better with a Harley V-Twin. |

Rian this would be an awesome paint scheme. I think I remember a GT-40 having a similar paint scheme somewhere.

Re: Gulf Racing colors - Any such trucks out there?
Not to steal the tread but i have original phillips 66 paint that i thought about painting my truck with and putting the phillips 66 sign on the door.
And not the orange and black but the red, grey and white.

Re: Gulf Racing colors - Any such trucks out there?
I think the February can might be out of date, but the March one is still probably good.
