For those who didn't belive.

remember, a few weeks back I posted on here about being able to pump the throttle and work my truck into lifting the wheels off the ground at around 45-50 mph. With stock suspension & street radials.

I got shot down by everyone.

well, I finally got some and photo proof...

Ive got a video that I'll get on on youtube later today, and I'll post the link here..

I would have never believed a stock suspension truck could do that. But there it is. Cool. Has anything ever broken doing that?

Re: For those who didn't belive.

everything suspension wise is stock, including the front shocks (and they arent shot either, they ride very nice)

its a 3.73 rear gear, T350 trans with the gear shift selector in low , and a 383 stroker motor which makes approx. 450 hp @ the crank..

Im not claiming i can just punch the throttle and do this, i never have, but by working the throttle and suspension, it builds to this level of height before i run of of gear in first.

Tx Firefighter..

in my eyes, this is not tearing up a nice truck. the body of this truck is immaculate, and i intend to keep it that way. it has never even seen a dirt road, a minor accident, or a door ding at a mall parking lot. however, I am 18 years old, and this truck is my hotrod. in my opinion, hot rods are built to be relentlessly beaten until broken, and then fixed and beaten again. the motor and tranny are far from original to the truck, and breaking parts is just part of the game. and this game i feel to be much more wholesome then out drinking or doing drugs. I took these pictures with my gearhead friends out with our trucks. this is a friday night for us, not out getting into more dangerous trouble.

..i think that might have turned into a rant

Re: For those who didn't belive.

i had a 72 mgb that would do that in 1st also, with about 80 hp. its kinda fun definatly funny, and way bad for your suspension and the chassis.
but hey youre only young and dumb once so have at it.

Had a feeling that is how it was happening - I had a 75 MGB also and could get it bouncing big time. Hmm, I was about 18 also when I learned I could do that, coincidence?

Have fun with your truck but of course be careful!

Well put. I agree with everything you just said. What is the point in building unnecessary horsepower but to have fun with it. Nothing wrong with some tire smoke and seeing what the truck/car is capable of doing with it's new found power. I like to thrash on my stuff too....within reason of course. I still have total respect for the vehicle, just want to enjoy it fully. I suspect you are the same way. In TxFirefighters defense, I do think that bouncing the front end activity could be a little too rough on the front suspension. Keep on having your good clean fun!
By the way, I am a 40 year old teenager still trying to have some fun too.

Re: For those who didn't belive.

Hell we all tore up stuff. Not that long ago everyone was critisized for making hotrods out of Pre-48 cars. Americas cars and trucks went through some major abuse. Try that with all the imports Wasn't it Dale Ernhardt that tore up that new 87 vette that GM gave him? Most now talk about all the stuff they wish they hadn't Including me.

We sell suspension parts to so of course we support it

I fully support your right to tear your stuff up, lot's of people do that when they are younng...But do not say you intend to keep the body immaculate, because you won't, or I should say can't. Not driving like that. please just make sure that the guy with the camera does not get hurt when your a arms give up the ghost, and they will, I know, I was 18 once too...But we did it in a true 1971 SS 454 Chevelle 4 speed, oh it would only make one hop though And turned into a turd quick. who knew what they were really worth?

+1 99.9 % of us on here have pulled a few stunts in our lives and surived. Just hope the video doesn't get in the wrong hands or you might be digging the old ten speed out of the shed again.

All I will say is that if you are going to squirrrel around, make sure that the guys on the sidelines are well out of the way and that everyone in your group can handle their car and the cars/trucks are in good shape.

My screwball niece killed her best friend in a street racing wreck less than a week after she got her liscense a few years ago. Too much power, too little brains an way too little skill. Sad part is that I would have taken her out to the local drag strip myself when it was running and coached her on how to run it safely with her sidekick standing beside me. Be safe what ever you do and make sure those around you do things as safely as they can.

The videos was shot in 2006 so that would have made me 59 years old. I may have to grow old, but I refuse to grow up.

Re: For those who didn't belive.

You can have fun with alot of hp and not tear a truck up.Doing this makes driving on a dirt road a cake walk.Apparently you don`t realize that what you are doing is hard on many parts of your truck.Certainly wasn`t built to do this. Many of us hot rod our trucks and breaking parts isn`t what it`s about.I think that is the point being made. You`ll find out.

And,it is better than drugs, drinking, and other trouble. No one said don`t do it.Just that it will tear a nice truck up.

Sweet! I agree with some of what all of you are saying. However, its your truck, drive it like you want, fix it however you can. Just remember its his checkbook buying the parts, not ours.
