How do you choose an air compressor hose?
How do you select a 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2" size compressor hose?. I will be running basic stuff like ratchet, impact, nail gun,etc.... I have seen the 1/4" coiled up type but they look kind of cheesey. I'm guesing 3/8" since it's the middle size would be best.

all but one of the hoses we have at work are 3/8. we have a 5/8 one for the 1 inch impact. if you look at the owners manual for the tools it should say which size to use. I suggest 3/8 though. go for the ones that will be flexible in the cold & dont have a coiled memory. (stiffness is undesirable)

3/8's is the normal size works with about everything except for large impact guns they require more volume. get a rubber hose and not pcv. the rubber stays pliable and is actually useable. the pcv will keep its shape be stiff as hell forever and basically drive you insane

I agree with cableguy. My local tool shop recommended Goodyear rubber hose, in 3/8", of course. Costs more but stays flexible even in sub-zero temps around here. Not that I use it much when it's that cold.
