Anybody get anything done this weekend?

It rained most of the weekend here so that would be a 'no' from me on getting anything done on the trucks.

How about you guys?

Re: Anybody get anything done this weekend?

I got it washed and gassed up again so my wife can start another work week

Last weekend I did manage to finally get the lower fenders clear wrapped so we can off road without worrying about sandblasting the paint with rocks. Otherwise I'm done messing with the blazer unless something breaks for now, I spend most of my time working on the cars.

Removed the engine and crossmember from the bare frame. Also removed the brake and fuel lines - working towards getting it ready to blast and powdercoat.

Worked on weatherstrip installation on the top and about 70% of job getting carpet down on the front section of the blazer. Seats this week and I can't wait for you to see them, They look NEW! They look like brad new utility buckets with the original material. You are going to be amazed. The lady who did it followed the original patterns so well and so precisely. Can't wait to show you all.

Re: Anybody get anything done this weekend?

I pulled the transmission out of my ‘68. I couldn’t adjust the clutch . . . every time I tried, it would just make a horrible racket. Turns out that the t/o bearing must have went dry and self-destructed.. . . destroyed the pressure plate with it! Lesson to be learned? Keep your freeplay adjusted!
Anyway, after reading my manuals, I was preparing to remove the bellhousing when I decided to try and get the clutch out through the bottom of the bellhousing. I felt very blessed when the p/p and disc was able to be wiggled out through the inspection cover. Probably saved me several hours! This week, I hope to install a Hurst floor shifter . . . my column shifter is shot.

I do clutch changes like that in our cars with 2 piece bell housings all the time. I don't even remove the trans entirely. Just remove the bolts and thread in long studs, then just slide the tranny back on the studs about 8-10 inches.
Remove the clutch through the cover, reinstall and slide tranny back into place. Sure saves alot of back breaking work

Swapped the engine mounts. It kicked my butt. Seriously it should have taken a couple of hours tops. But all day it was. One bolt had me swearing for 3 hours. Grrr..

Re: Anybody get anything done this weekend?

Pulled the turn signal cancel springs off spare column and put them into the driver cam. Pulled the shift indicator and retainer off to clean. Serviced the KN air filter--nasty! Sanded and painted the sash channels. Ordered new rubber components for the doors on Thursday and--sigh--a factory assembly manual.

I'm the idiot who cannot manage to bring the kid's Blazer to a point where we can just block sand it and have it sprayed, so I've been painting it piece by piece with a foam roller, Rustoleum enamel and every grit of paper known to man. I have the donor doors on sawhorses and I've been working on them for most of the winter on the occasional warm day. It snowed (again) this weekend, so no progress other than above. A couple warm days and we'll have the top off, new/old doors on with emblems, mirrors, felt and rubber--maybe by next weekend!

Re: Anybody get anything done this weekend?

Not much... I don't have an inside work area for big stuff. I had hoped to get the third member restored and remounted but all I was able to do was tap in the new pinion seal and clean/paint the pinion housing and yoke.

Watched Avatar (we don't go to theaters, so it was new to us) and races the rest of the weekend... lol

Got my body mount brace and inner rocker on the driver side fitted, now I'm ready to sand and rust protect torsion box and under floor before tacking everything back in.
