Factory zip tie locations

Here’s what I documented for GM zip tie locations for my 72 Blazer auto, 350, AC, CA emissions equipped. I’m missing a location with examples shown for the washer hoses near pump, washer hose supply to forward lamp harness near the firewall, and one on an AC hose affixing the harness to the compressor. I can’t recall for certain but the lone undocumented zip tie may have migrated from its original location and been found during disassembly.

I’m not sure that it is complete (four total ties?) and I’d like others to chime in with zip tie knowledge for an application similar to mine as well as others.

This pic might document the location for my fourth tie...or maybe reflects the third location shown above and on the attached schematic. Schematic also shows a “loop” like bracket for heater return hose to the pump that I believe small blocks lacked - perhaps a zip tie was used on small blocks for this hose in lieu of the bracket?

Please don't call these "zip ties" . That is a term for the things we use today almost like we use duct tape. I don't recall the term we used for these back in the day, but I'll just call them straps.

Below are the 4 locations on my '69. They may have migrated a bit from when the truck was new though. Note that, at least on my truck, the passenger side straps were black, and the driver side were white I have no idea why. Size differentiation? Since this is an early '69 the washer bottle is on the core support, and the hot water shutoff valve is different from a '72's. I won't be able to look under the dash for a few days.

Please ignore the two 12 gauge red wires in the passenger side photos. I ran those to supply 12V to a 3-way camper refrigerator.

I'm not sure if it was right, but I always remember them called tie wraps. That could be me getting it wrong way back when.

FWIW- we use 'Tie Band' at work when referring to them, even on prints. Great post-thanks for documenting these things!

Jim thanks absolutely. I’d like to add these to my k20. If you scare any up hang onto them it’ll be further incentive to head north east for a visit.

Agree, plastic strap a better term. Thanks a ton for posting - a big help. Really interesting to see the color differences. Mine were all black. As an aside, I’ve not yet seen the exact style in a reproduction piece but examples that have something like a nub that extends off the body of the strap.

BTW - we are visiting Madison now and spent time at the Circus World Museum in Baraboo yesterday. The museum was an absolute blast.

Here’s another location. Correct for at least 72 MY K5s. Strap secures the rubber vent hose to the fuel filler neck above the bed floor. I wonder if another was used below the bed as well.
