Storage in the Door or Overhead Console??
I did some searching my maybe my fu is weak
I am redoing the interior of my 70 burb and thought it would be nice to create some sort of door panel with storage. Maybe a panel with a part that hangs down/flush with the lower part of the door? Anyone ever build an overhead console for our burbs or trucks? I would like something with map/paper storage over the visors and maybe put a ham or cb radio in the middle...or switches. I run both ham and cb radios so I would like one up high and the other low so I can tell which is talking when on the trail. Seems like between all the metal up front/top and the rib about the seat position there is plenty of mounting options. |

Re: Storage in the Door or Overhead Console??
I will have to see if I can find modern burn in the junkyard to model some door storage after...thanks for the tip.
I had a Ford Sportsmobile 4wd van with deep overhead storage setup and I liked that I could fold a Benchmark Atlas in half and fit it up there. |

Re: Storage in the Door or Overhead Console??
You know, when I was a kid I had a '63 ford pick-up and one of the things I remember about that truck was that it had, in each door, a zippered compartment that you could open and put stuff in. IIRC, each side could hold a 12 pack of beer and a bag of ice. That had to be what they had in mind

Re: Storage in the Door or Overhead Console??
Too Funny....
I have been looking at the door and it seems that if I wanted to get creative with some sheet metal I could cut in a hole and either do some sheet metal work or fiberglass in some storage..... Going to have to think on this one a bit. |

Re: Storage in the Door or Overhead Console??
I've been toying with the idea of a shelf above the windshield for a modern radio and storage above the visors as well. The burbs have enough room for one, now it's the building it part that keeps dragging me down.
