Original valve cover sticker question

I have a 1972 Custom/10 Deluxe with a 350. Can anybody tell me what sticker would have been on my valve covers? I have seen a couple different types but I'm not sure which one is right for my truck.

Re: Original valve cover sticker question

I believe that your (Chevy) engine would not have had a sticker on it....ie: the valve covers.
The only sticker that would have been visible on the engine area when you lift the hood would have been on the front of the air cleaner reading "Keep your GM truck all GM"....to my recollection.
I believe the GMC's did have stickers on their valve covers but it was year dependent to my recollection and not something standardized on.
That said, a lot of guys add the 'car stickers' to the their valve covers such as 'Turbofire 350', '350/300hp'...that kind of thing. Most people don't notice it being correct of not.
My two bits.

You are right Colin. Attached are under hood pics of my unmolested 1972 Custom/Deluxe C10 with a 350 engine. No stickers and the label is on the air cleaner.

Re: Original valve cover sticker question

All of the 72 350 engines that I have seen has a decal like the one I have pictured. I have been trying to find someone that reproduces them, but have been unsuccessful. If anyone knows where to get them, please let me know!

Re: Original valve cover sticker question

I agree with drillrod. Any unmolested engines in at least 72 should have those decals, at least one anyway. Trevor

Re: Original valve cover sticker question

I haven't had my truck that long and have its history but will look closer at the valve covers to see if any glue residue is visible.

Re: Original valve cover sticker question

Thanks guys! Just makin sure that I wasn't missing anything. I just finished rebuilding the front end of my truck including inner femders, core support frame and rebuilt engine and I'm putting it all back to original so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything on the motor! Thanks again

I am almost positive that I was the first one to touch the valve covers on mine, it didn't have that sticker.

Maybe they didn't put them on green trucks.

I probably just don't remember it then, it was around 1985 when I took the stock valve covers off and replaced them with some sweet M/T aluminum covers.

The originals are back on now but have been through the acid vat a few times since then.
