Front Window Trim SUCKS!
Looking at some previous posts, it seems like this is somewhat of a common problem (getting front window in with stainless trim).
After trying myself, I decided to call a "professional". He was going to charge $85 to come out and install the glass with trim and claimed he's done many...NO PROBLEM....I thought it was a little spendy, but I was tired of dicking with it! What I ended up with from the "professional" is an installed window with just the top piece of stainless installed. He seems to think I may have the wrong pieces, but the trim has the shallow flange (mine"s a 72) and I'm not sure how to ident the rubber, but I figure if the top trim is in and staying it should be correct. The stuff is new and from the Truck & Car Shop and I rechecked the part numbers. The window guy claimed he has installed the trim after the window was installed on other trucks, so I figure I will dick with it some more. The good news is he didn't charge me anything. QUESTION: has anyone else had any success with trim installation after window is already installed? ...or will I have to visit 3 or 4 more "professionals" before I find the right guy that can do the job?

Re: Front Window Trim SUCKS!
I've had quite a problem with it myself.
I am hoping that I have finally found someone that can do it. This will be my second full set of trim and rubber on the front, and new windshield. DLB |

Re: Front Window Trim SUCKS!
I was told that you place the rubber on the windshield then the trim. Then thay all go into the frame together.

Re: Front Window Trim SUCKS!
I returned my stainless trimmed kit for solid rubber kit after reading about "professionals" bending the stainless trim and not warrantying damage . My friend Jamie had that happen at two places. Hew finnaly went with all rubber. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Re: Front Window Trim SUCKS!
Trim gets installed in the rubber & on the windshield before installing in the frame. It took three of us to do it. Two outside, one inside the cab. Used a nylon fish stringer & vasoline & tape. We done two trucks with trim windshield & rear windows. Took 30-40 min average on the windshields and 15-20 on the rears. Most important factors to check is proper rubber depth for the trim you have. We bent none of the trim.

Re: Front Window Trim SUCKS!
Sammy,
How do you get the chrome into the rubber seal? We had good luck with our local glass installer for years and then the company was sold to a new owner. It took the new owner one week of installation time, (every day) to install the last windshield. After that experience, we decided to install the front windshield ourselves to avoid the hassle, (rear windows with chrome trime are no problem for us). At this time we are stuck as we cannot get the chrome to go into the seal. The seal is for a 72 which should fit the 72 chrome, (the 72 chrome has a shorter retention part than the older trucks). The windshield is out with the seal on it. Any suggestions on getting the trim in place would be appreciated. Jim
